tps possible issues?

I\'m trying to run through as many checks as I can before going down the route of fitting my power fc to my Rex/cappuccino hybrid and I have done some tps testing instructions ,

my questions are ;

As my engine has been converted to single turbo and quite a lot has been removed, when you guys ( and gals to be all prim n proper pc like lol ) carry out single turbo conversions what sensors remain in use on the throttle body ? I want to know if the aws solenoid would still have an affect on the tps readings at cold? I know it says you\'re meant to check when warm but as my hybrid isn\'t running right I don\'t want to try running it rough that long - or can I de adjust any parts of the throttle ass so it doesn\'t affect my tps readouts?

Second question;

As I\'m aware all the tps is a variable resistor , as long as I have good voltage from battery my readings shouldn\'t be affected by the fact my loom is half Suzuki half Mazda ? Reason is I took a quick check of my readings cold and the one that stuck out badly was the w.o.t reading whilst tapped into the bottom black wire. All I got was 1.06volts and as I understand it the spec should be 4.2-4.6volts? Even if i got it warm I can\'t see that changing my reading by at by 3 volts or so as adjustment range on the tps only is about 0.15v ? So would I possibly have a faulty tps?

Thanks in advance ;-)

Have TPS if you need to replace :cool

*advise email for pics and price.

Couldn\'t remember if there was a good guide on mrc, but did remember this on rx7club.

thanks for the tps offer but i posted up in the wanted section and someone has already offered me one and i have sent the relevant money already. As for the car being a u.k. model im not sure, what difference does this make?

Regarding my tps , I did try and adjust it that\'s how I found the range I can adjust it by, consequently , I removed it and played with it by hand whilst still plugged in, checked the voltage as I manually turned the switch and it showed a lovely progression of voltage rise but once I got to a smidge over 1.2 volts it just shoots to about 2.3 volts then if ii turn it a bit more it drops down to 1ish volts and flutters between 1 and 2 volts until I get to full travel on the switch, which the voltage maxed out at 2.6 ish volts. This doesn\'t seem right to me like maybe the tracks are burnt and this could possibly giving incorrect signals to the ecu?

Sounds like its brown bread. I\'d seriously be surprised that they didn\'t use the same TPS across all countries. There is no reason to not use a common sensor.

It was nothing to do with the TPS, I don\'t think AWS was fitted to imports. If your gutting the harness for a single I think you have to join a couple of wires on a harness that had AWS.

Ah I see philwilly, I think that\'s already been done on the wiring as I have labelled all the pin outs from the ecu and traced some wires just to check it\'s the right ones etc and I do recall some spliced together- the bloke I got it from was a knowledgeable chappy :-) I\'m guessing it\'s an import as mine does have the aws system on there but i just think it may be disabled. Will investigate further on that once Iv rewired the loom into the later loom plugs to fit my wrongly bought power fc lol

Shaunwill, thanks for the reply - this is the sort of answer I\'m looking for, Iv posted this q on rx7club .com too and nobody has just given a simple answer like yours, I.e yes it does seem faulty etc - sometimes u just need to hear a simple reply to at least know your thoughts are on the right path ;-)

In some ways I\'m glad I bought the wrong ecu because it forces me to learn more about the rotaries in more depth , if I got the right ecu it would of just been plugged in and I would be none the wiser, i originally thought I was in over my head but it\'s slowly making more sense and I\'m starting to enjoy the challenged now more than worrying lol
