Found this over the weekend at a car show i went to, guy said he was running the \'Greddy turbo kit\' and it was pushing around 300 bhp, apparently it had a custom turbine. He said he\'d spent quite a bit of cash on it, sorry i don\'t know much more about it, i know it looked very nice it was erm "on its arse" on D2 coilovers. One of the nicest RX-8\'s i\'ve seen and it was VERY loud and pretty fast as well :mmmm

Just though, it might interest a few of you.

So its making just about stock turbo power that an FC does with a few bolt ons? I do like how the radiator is getting blocked by the battery and the air filter is sucking in hot air from what little air gets though behind the rad lol

Arnie_O

that engine bays actually been reconfigured with the battery moved from where the air filter is located in the picture.
the Stock engine bays actually a little more crowded.

wonder how he gets on with cooling
Turbocharged 192ps RX-8 running Meth Injection on an Adaptronic
Fully Bridgeported 231ps RX-8 stripped for the Track
2nd Gen RX-7 TurboII on a GT35r (show winner)

Oh yeah Mitch I\'m in no way saying it\'s better than my stock FC ;)

And I\'m certainly not saying I\'d rather have that over my FC, what I am saying is it was the fastest (and loudest) RX-8 I\'ve seen to date. I feel anyone who has put hard earned cash into a rotary engined car is deserved of some aknowledgment, thought perhaps these RX8 boys would respect it a bit more than us :p
I\'d choose my FC any day!

Grant Monkhouse

that rx8 may only just have the power of a stock FC guys but it probably has all of them in it, wheres as your FC\'s have lost a lot of the ponies, oh and the rx8 chassis will walk all over your FC\'s in most situations as your cars is not so far off being as old as my RX4!!

Now dont think im an rx8 fan because im not, i find it hard to like them apart from use on a track, but they are a superior car in most cases, except for maybe looks?

You missed the biggest restriction of air flow into that engine bay though mitch, the huge number plate covering the passage into the bay:yes

If you like this you might like the one in this you tube link, wow, I even liked the color for some reason,

wheres the biggest laff out loud smiley? :rollin<<< this will have to do

oh and the mouth of the 8 is closed off stock on purpose! the number plate makes no difference! why? the cold air flowing through the bay was causing problems with how the oil cooled in the rotary ... something they realised when testing the 8 and have obviously conveniantly forgotten to tell you guys :evillaugh food for thought :2Rolleyes

also the radiator is mounted on an angle rather than upright in the 8! and its \'scoop\' is the bottom vent below the plate between the oil coolers!

i can tell you this 2! 300 bhp is pretty pethetic on a turbod 8 - theres a chap on the oc just sold his running 450 bhp with the boost turned up to around 1.2 or 1.4 bar (i think) on stock ports!!!

any supercharger will give you between 320 and 360 bhp with stock ports - modding the 8\'s is only just beginning on large scale really - combined with all the moddern tech, chassis, suspension set up etc etc i think some of you older hardcore rotary chappies are gonna have to admit to moving over on the track when and is scraping paint off your bumpers :p

in the meen time tho im still looking for a FD to rebuild so if anyone heres owt ...:Laugh
