ok ok ok lol it wasnt a ridgid price plan and obviously thered be room for play regarding price - and obviously you\'d have to plan for the failure of major engine components etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc - i get it chill out! haha

And yes your right! ive rebuilt a few rotaries but never an FD, am i in for a shock? same engine, same design right? bar the periferal exhaust ports?

also are the Atkins Apex seals considered soft in the FD world? is it worth beefing up to 3mm single piece? stock springs are ALWAYS used of course - and yes your right if you use OEM parts throughout the rebuild does get a fair bit more expensive

Quote from: Benedunn;785291and it doesnt look like much of a project to me - a lick of paint and an engine rebuild then put her back together - how hard can it be right :2Confused

id didnt litteraly meen a lick of paint! it would be going for a full respray! i was thinking about something custom
:D

Personaly would not use 3mm, if you want hardened seals, the best route is oem cyro (if that\'s how it\'s spelt lol) treated, and treated corner seals with new housings. That way you will get even wear and not suffer compression issues, IMO , and just remember it a 20 odd year old car, not a rx8. .
Good luck with your plans and whatever you purchase. :3gears-rh
V8 fd\'s rock :cool

they dont look much like a 20 odd year old car tho :2eek

and its \'Cryogenically Treated \' but cryo is better and easier to work with :cool

atkins apex seals are generally pretty good! but thats not to say they dont wear - ive seen apex seals advertised as unbreakable and often are! but unbreakable doesnt make them resiliant to wear these \'hunky\' seals normaly wear the worst - great for massive boost race cars but not so great for day to day stuff - ceramic apex seels are the only ones that bearly wear at all over long periods but are prone to shattering under detenation so no good for the FD - also insanley expensive!

keep the tips coming chaps - it would seem im gonna need it :o

with regards to the new housings! is replacing them on every build common practice? seems excessive if the chrome hasnt any damage and all is within spec? also would probably break the bank knowing how often you guys like to swap engines :evillaugh

Not on every rebuild, I\'m just saying the route I would go if I wanted hardened seals, I would use new housings  so I got even wear.
