Now every thread i start is a question about something, and this one isn\'t going to be any different but at the same time it is, i\'m actually going to post some images of my car aswell!

So the first main question i have is the initial set connetor as ive mentioned before, so below are images from under the hood of connectors...

So do any of these look like the right connector?

Next question (no images though) is to do with the exhaust rubbers, theres two that are fixed to the car which need replacing, anyone got any recommendations about what to do with these?

And to finish the thread off, images of whats been done, front wings where rusty at the bottom, rust had started going through the inner and outer skins but these have been getting sorted out:

I can\'t help, but i dare say Prof might know :Giggle

The green ones are most likely test connectors - that\'s Mazda\'s usual colour scheme it seems - so nothing nomrall plugs into them.

Not sure about the white connectors - may be for options you don\'t have - depends on the car and it\'s history.

A good way to tell if it\'s come unplugged is look at the contacts inside - if they are heavily tarnished, chances are they\'ve never been plugged into anything.

BTW - the EGI is the one model I have no wiring diagrams for - Brett is the man with the manual :)  (bet he won\'t sell it to me)

Fair enough, was hoping to try and find the initial set connector as I\'ve tried grounding the pin from the ecu and as far as I can tell it didn\'t do anything :(

the first pic is the initial set connector, the one above the coils, have a screenshot from the fsm but my tinypic won\'t let me log in right now so I can\'t upload it.

tinypics workin again, here\'s the screenshot;

although it shows two seperate connectors here, I\'m pretty sure mine just has the one, a green 6 pin socket

Kamatari

Hmm if that\'s so... Which pin do you ground to activate(well deactive I suppose)?

As i havent given this car as much attention on here like i have the other and ive just been watching some rx7 vids on youtube...

I need this car back on the road :( ive had it for quite a while and haven\'t given it the running it deserves... i think nearly all the welding work is nearly done, then its just a case of getting it MOT\'d painted and taxed :) there is the idle bounce that needs sorting though.. but seeing as it was my first rx7, it special to me :P

Could just be a vac leak or the icv needs adjusting, mine has a small warm up issue where it does a similar thing when you start it up so it could also be that?

dthebuk

how much does it bounce? does it do it on warm up only like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RREN7JdidU&feature=channel_video_title

the video shows a problem with tps i think. if it does it all the time and slightly then its probably an air leak somewhere.

Warm up seems to be fine, its all the time though... im thinking airleak but i just havent found one yet :(

best place to check is between the afm and Inlet manifold. On mine where the plastic bolts into the manifold it was actually missing a nut/bolt. Also there are two pipes that come off of the main flexi pipe(intake), worth looking into them. Oil cap could have something to do with it too. I drove without one for a few miles and the idle was pretty rough.

ill have a check again... ive sprayed loads of leak detector all round the pipes/joins and havent found anything yet :(
