Hi All. I\'m Sarah and have owned a Mark 1 1983 RX7 (12a engine) since I fell in love with it on a garage forecourt a good 10 years ago. I used it as my everyday car, and loved performance, handling and the fact that it\'s an usual car to see on the road.

A few years ago, I got the magical 160k on the engine and sure enough it started to lose compression. Being mechanically minded and brought up around garages, I put the car in my garage and took the engine out. Got a professionally rebuilt engine and striped the car to work on the body work. Since then I\'ve worked on the car, welding, and sorting little bits out. It needs a small bit of welding still and put back together, and a new starter motor. Apart from a little bit of rust on the rear wheel arches, it\'s in great nick. However, and here\'s the conundrum, I\'m struggling to find the time to complete the restore. I\'m cycling across Kenya for charity later this year, and with training and fundraising, I haven\'t touched the car for about a year. Half of me thinks that I should sell it to someone who would continue with the restore and get it back on the road again. The other half of me wants to be that person behind the wheel of such an amazing car again.

So that\'s me and my conundrum. I\'m hoping that I\'ll be able to decide one way or the other soon, or find help to get it back on the road!!

yep keep it, theres no rush to get it finished, as long as you can store it, it\'ll still here when you get back, could even motivate you while your on the bike ride, that you have it to come back too :)

and welcome,

Keep it, and do the work when you can, I had mine off the road for a few years through different circumstances but put her back on the road last month and was glad I never thought about parting with her.
It would be worth reading some of the posts on the first gen section and introduce yourself as there will be all the advice you will need on restoring the car.
