Having starting issues with my 1996 FD and came across this loose in my engine bay but not sure what it is?!

Any connectors either end? Might be the end of the speedo cable?

looks like a boiler thermostat, posssibly left behind when the old steam engine was swapped out for the rotary.

thanks for the replies guys guys, traced it back to the back of the dash and is for exhaust temp lol
