hi everyone, i dont currently own an rx-7 but am going to build one from ground up. just wanted to know if there was ay where i could get aluminium rotor houings from? any help will be noted. p.s is this a good idea or should i just stick with the cast iron ones. thanks billy

Mate I didn\'t understand your post! As far housings are concerned they are always in silver colour hence looks to me Almunium! Cast iron housing?? Never heard of them or may be I m very think :)

yes you can buy Almunium engine plats from racing beats! But never heard of the comparison you mentioned above

May be someone more knowledgable can comment and correct me!

What Mir said is correct - rotor housings are always aluminium, end and intermediate plates are iron.

As for where to get them, assuming you\'re after new ones, try Rotary Art (//www.rotaryart.uk.com) - that\'s where I bought mine from. Other than that, Mazda! They ain\'t cheap though, especially with the poor exchange rate at the mo.

sorry i thought all the plates were iron, i have recently been looking through a book called \'\'street rotary\'\', got a bit confused. i am going to be using the car as an every day runner is buying all aluminium plates a bit excessive?

I would imagine so. If you consider that the engine sump can fit (with room to spare) on a sheet of A4 paper the weight savings are minimal for the size/thickness of the end plates. You could probably get them fab\'d up somewhere but my feeling is the money is better spent elsewhere!

Work hard, play hard house :D

From what I have read they have had problems with the bearings in the aluminium plates.  So best to stick to iron ones :)  Although they do weigh a ton!
