Right, finally got around to fitting my Knight sports headlights. Myself and Nik had spent one day trying to sort things out but thanks to rusted screws and a very tight fitting intercooler with got in the way of the mounting bolts we didn\'t it al done.
So the other week i had another go by myself (never good to leave me alone with tools but i did my best).

First i had to drill out some rusted light cover screws so i could get the cover off and finally get the passenger side backet out.

The problem child mocking me

Finally off and ready to put in the KS units

Then there was this little lot to figure out

Annoyingly I had to keep taking out the intercooler everytime I changed the lights (which also meant moving a rad hose to) as it\'s such a tight fit that you can\'t get to one of the pivot bolts on the light craddle.

Electrics figured out and it all works :D

So out with the intercooler so as to bolt the cradles down and then fit the front covers.

And that\'s as far as I got by myself. It was then down to see Nik again on another day and get him to help me cut the mounting points on the top covers and repeat all the above a few times so as to fit the units and aline al the bits together

We didn\'t get any pictures of our working that day apart form this one in the light of the lights fully fitted...

but Nik got some at night when i was setting off for home. Hopehe doesnt mind me quoting his post from fduk so you can see his pictures..

Quote from: Lucky;246984Quick sneaky update of Adman\'s thread for him while he\'s driving home lol. Hopefully he\'ll still be in a good mood when he gets there and not grumpy cos his lights just failed completely on a dark country road or one of the headlight covers we spend half the day fitting just blew off and wound up under a giant truck or something....

What the hell am I on about? The Knighsport lights finally gave into our persistance and all-round amazingness :D. After our epic failure last time around we weren\'t to be beaten. I say we, in fact Ada had already done all the hard owrk, fitting the light assemblies and getting the unfathomable Jap-spec wiring weirdness sorted out... my main contribution was to have some man-up spray and dremel the headlight covers so they\'d fit

(I think he was scared, personally, but don\'t say I told you) :D

Anyhoo, they\'re on, they all work, the covers fit perfick, we\'re getting properly quick at dismantling and re-fitting the V-mount to get to the one bloody bolt that\'s impossible otherwise, and they look bloody fantastic  Dunno why people grumble about them being feeble, these are like properly retina-melting bright, especially on high beam. Like a total spazz, I forgot to take any pics until after it got dark, so the only ones I can post are of them being really bright errm, in the dark :o

Dipped beam

High beam

People are going to think the bloody things a UFO landing behind them :) Arbitrary clock shot for no good reason. I said clock

Top day messing around with cars as always, and I managed to not faint, so that was a bonus too :D Much love

So thats them finally finally finished. Well, apart from alining the beams for the next MOT :D

i remember seeing this car at brooklands about two years ago(i think the front bumper was ropey) ,its come on so well its a real proper bit of kit now,and all that elbow grease and polishing has paid off its good to see people still put the work in them selves rather then just drop them off at a tuners with a blank cheque.
im building a similar fd at the mo and and it gives you a lot of will to get it done seeing yours,
Though i have got a t51 lined up i think it might be too big for what i want.

well  done boos.

Cheers for the comments guys. There\'s still plenty more I\'d love to do but it all depends on what I can afford and what direction I want to go with the caf now. For the time being it\'s staying a good street car.
Little things like getting a polished rad cover, tiding up the electrical in the engine bay and new intercooler pipes will keep me busy for a while. I\'m not really known for working quickly on stuff ha ha

Not sure my bumper has ever been ropey

Ok, nothing major gone on with my car in ages now. Lack of money has slowed things right down but i\'ve got a few things in mind that i\'d like to sort out soon.
I have had a couple of cool stickers made up though by Pete (V8-FD). Got one of them on today.

For those of you that dont know, this comes from a time i lauched off the start line with a window down and was also in reverse so it became my mantra from then on :p

More stickers to come once i can get them on properly

Hahaha, luv it!!

What\'s the next plan for going faster? Interior out?

Ada7

I am thinking of doing that for the summer. Boot plastics and rear seats should loose me a little weight and i can always put them back in at any point. Also getting hold of some standard shocks might help a bit i\'ve been told.
Going to try and sort my brakes out so it\'ll hold on the start line better under load. It creeps at the moment so need the brakes to bite harder.
Also want to give it a full service. All fluids.. engine, box and diff.
I\'ve also been thinking about getting a couple of gauges. EGT and wideband so it can be monitored betterer.
After that... who knows. Water injection and more boost maybe??

I do like your very handy tool shelf in the engine bay :) almost as useful as a strut brace to reach stuff at the back of the engine :rollin

Egt in each in manifold runner? You got a wide band ready to go in rx4. Bought it with the data loggit.

What are you going to do to the breaks? Press harder on the pedal?
