Im getting the low coolant buzzer coming on sometimes now when i start my fd up for anywhere between 20secs-a couple of minutes and it goes off.

Its only really started doing this since it had a coolant change a few weeks ago, reckoned it was air in the system but tried bleeding it and hasn\'t really made much difference... :3Confused Thinking maybe sensor is knackered, or any other ideas? Its definitely not low on coolant!

I had an air pocket in the block which caused the coolent buzzer to go off, took a while for it to work its way out, does it use any coolent at all? Mine used to, but I found I had a tiny leak on the block to heater matrix hose right at the bottom of the engine bay lol typical!

Doesn\'t seem to use any coolant, i\'m still thinking now actually that it could  be air as i seriously don\'t think it done it before it got  changed.  Ah not had coolant level paranoia in a while!

batman

it needs bleeding from the back hose up near the plenum mine use to do this untill hayward bled it for me and it sorted it

Mine does similar. It\'s using no coolant but occasionally it comes on, PFC, Defi and stock gauges all showed 83oC or thereabouts when it came on. It does keep doing it so maybe I need the system bleeding, either that or the sensor is fooked.

i often take the hose off the back of the throttle body whilst filling up once its warm id say its an air lock,
youll go out to it and itl just clear itself after lots of head scratching

I was told by someone who had exactly the same issue on start up only that there was a small crack in the bottle that was allowing enough water to function safely but just less enough to cause the buzzer to go off until it all warmed up abit.... Just a thought....

Cheers guys, will take a look at all that over the next few days :Thumbs-up

Just to add what i\'ve noticed now is that the buzzer will start to buzz always more or less when it is started from cold, but it will always stop once heated up a bit - just after it goes past the 2 notch on the dash temp gauge...

Perhaps there is a pocket of air in the block somewhere, then once the thermostat opens the expansion tank and the rest of the system will allow more coolent around the system.

When was the last time you did a full coolent flush with bicarb or coolent flush? might be a slightly blocked passageway that only fills once the water is under pressure a bit?

cyman

the buzzers are known to cause issues for things non water related. mine was the same and i went through everything i could think of never found a problem anywhere in the end i removed the buzzer. that was 2 years ago never had a single problem related to it appear

m1tch

Or you don\'t know of any problems lol I think the FD flashes a warning light for knock, but as far as I know the buzzer is for either the red line or low coolent?

cyman

well i stripped the cpu right down and re soldered single filemants of copper to rectify the corroded tracks. i tracked down the whole coolant level and bypassed it direct and it made no difference i replaced the cpu and it didnt change anything either. i heard that some fd\'s had the same prob and the de limiter had caused issues. put a new one on and it cured it for about 5 months then it reappeared and was nice and intermittant so i gave up and removed the bloody thing.  :)
