Quote from: Mir;781125I have just come to know that, some people are purposefully burning their businesses and allowing friends and families to steel stuff so that they can claim it off from the Insurance.

That Sir is a very contentious comment and although i am sure this has happened and if you are aware of said activities you will immediately notify the authorities!

Obviously in the network we exist in (this forum and others, facebook etc) i have not seen one post, thread, news feed to support the rioters or believe any of the spam thrown at us for their reasons behind it, i.e duggans death, lack of jobs, cuts to community projects, uni costs etc etc and whatever other bo**cks they want to try and make us believe.

My point is this, WE, me, you, our families and friends are the MAJORITY and WE are the ones who fund this country through our taxes, not the scum who you see out on the streets the last few nights whose voices are far to loud and listened too! It seems you only have to have one of these minorities complain about something or another these days and the do gooders are all over them, calling for equal rights, blah blah blah. Its up to us as the MAJORITY to have OUR voices heard now, as the backbone of this country. Let these minorities know that if they behave like civilized human beings they will be treated as such and looked after. If however they decide to behave like animals with no regard to the law and their fellow citizens they will be treated as such. Literally, the rug will be pulled out from under their feet!

We USED to be \'Great\' Britain.... Not anymore, i\'m embarrased. I\'m living in Cyprus now and frankly i feel embarrased to be English at the moment, fortunately no one has asked me what i think about it. This is not the way to behave and the only person to blame is ourselves and the system. We cannot say certain words, parents cannot hit children, police cannot punish a criminal on the spot, teachers cannot punish students infront a class, now we will pay the consequenses for our nanny state.

Its a grey emotional day for Britain to wake up to this hangover of society and for one, I am very very dissapointed with whats happened. Reform is needed, but i am 100% sure nothing will change.

100% absolutely!

The governments and "human rights" bandwagon have made a rod for their own backs, PC gone full circle and now its back to haunt us!

Quote from: XRMike;781142If the police cant/wont deal with it put someone on the streets who can! Its been going on too long now, it should have been delt with quicker! Put the Army on the streets as they are trained up for it!

The army have limited training in control of riots or civil disturbance compared to the police.  Police leadership have not fully authorised full riot responses in many cities, they have in London and there were no problems last night.

Turning the army loose on the streets with a mandate to enforce the peace will result in deaths.  Whilst that may be a popular idea I very much doubt it will do anything but make things worse.  The catalyst for this event was the shooting of a man brandishing a weapon at armed police who shot him when he didn\'t respond to their requests to put the gun down.  The Army are an exceptional bunch of people but they are trained to eliminate their adversaries with lethal force if they feel it is necessary.  I think the kind of people rioting on the streets at the moment will struggle to grasp the fact that the soldier with the gun yelling "Stop or I fire" actually means it and that if he fires they\'ll be dead.  If they\'re deployed with batons rather than rifles then it just means that they\'ll end beating people to death or putting people in hospital with serious muscular-skeleto injuries who then become burdens on the state.

In the short term the Police need to earn their pay on this, deploy the assets required to enforce order on the streets and then we need to look to society, be that parents, schools or the wider community to impose the idea of right and wrong on these youths that is required to be part of modern society.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

This goes to show they have no fear of the consequences, as in essence a slap on the wrist doesnt deter.

Also notice what looks like to be quite a nice pad he is living in, leather chair, nice sofa and coffee table, carpet and he is clean and warm so must have central heating and hot and cold running water!!!!!!!

Life must be sooooooo bad for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is going to be the next new trend, the scum bags have figured out if they go shoplifting or on the rob in ones or twos they stand a bigger chance of getting caught, if they turn out in Numbers the police will just stand and watch as they don\'t want to confront. But that said how long do you think its going to be before some one breaks into a shop and finds a shop keeper pointing a 12 gauge at them or some nice Boobie traps?

They should bring in laws like the US where if some one breaks into your property you have the right to defend it as long as its not with excessive force, i don\'t think we\'re too far off now with the shop keeper getting off who stabbed that thief.

That IS the law over here. If you feel threatened and that your life is in danger you are well within your legal rights to defend yourself with REASONABLE force, that is the law.

In america, if somebody breaks into your home, and you feel threatened, you are within your rights to defend your life and property with due FORCE.

That\'s the difference. So yeah, if somebody breaks into your place and threatens you with a knife in the UK, and you beat them down with a baseball bat, it\'s all legal, since they have a more dangerous weapon and you are using reasonable force, long as you don\'t kill em or make em a vegetable, much as they would deserve it.

So it all hinges on what \'reasonable force\' is.

I think atomic weaponry is probably out due to the colateral damage (plus to be fair it\'s difficult to come by even on ebay), but what about tasers, stun guns, CS spray - none of these are lethal and you can take johnny looter straight off to the old bill after tie wrapping him suitably to something large and inflexible like a fence post.

Stun gun = illegal weapon for civilians to use and / or carry

Police grade (or anything close) pepper spray = illegal weapon for civilians to carry / use

Tazer = illegal weapon for civilians to carry / use

Most of the things from america that people \'think\' they can use to defend themselves are actually illegal weapons. This includes tazers, pepper spray, stun guns, CS spray, and pretty much anything you can use to damage another human being - welcome to politically correct england.

If you defended yourself with mace or stun guns / tazers, the person you harmed is well within their legal rights to take you to court for assault with an illegal weapon REGARDLESS of why you hit them with it.

Sucks nuts, but it\'s the sad, pathetic truth of UK defence law, hence why security personnel / officers like myself aren\'t allowed to carry F/A besides your own strength and communications skills. Carry much more than that, and you\'re not only seen as an intimidating threat to others, you\'re also carrying illegal weaponry.

Also, with tie-wrapping somebody up and restraining them until authorities arrive, something that security guards are known for doing on the odd occasion, you have to be prepared for the lashback of court claims for false imprisonment, holding a person against their will, etc etc.

Again, it sucks, but that\'s UK law for you. Utterly :Grrr\'ed in favour of the criminals.

Go out and buy a nail gun. Its legal to have a nail gun surely, probably not legal to fire it at someone though. But you could just say you were about to nail gun a picture to the wall and someone broke in, startled you and \'bam, bam, bam\' next thing you knew he had 3 nails in 1 knee cap?

A solution of Ghost Pepper sauce in a spray bottle - can\'t be illegal as you can buy the components in Tesco...

Ah but that\'s classed as a home made weapon, I could say the same thing about making up a squirt bottle with a solution of nitromorse, power steering fluid, or anything nasty I can pick up at B&Q which is then classed as aggravated assault with a (possibly deadly) weapon, which could lead to burns, blindness, etc etc.

Like has been said practically everywhere, political correctness gone full circle. Bless this country eh? I think it needs it. New and revised laws for "less harm towards each other" have created a huge turd-storm of political correctness.

If somebody breaks into your house and then trips over and lands on a knife, chances are these days they can probably sue you for damages.
