Scared it\'ll end up like mine? Wonder if it\'ll pass an MOT with duck tape on :rollin:rollin:rollin:rollin:rollin:rollin

Did some more work today!

Managed to fully dismantle most of the front suspension set-up and drop it all down enough to free the suspension from the body, in order to fit new springs to the existing shocks. The old springs were looking fairly tired and the new ones were meant to be lowering springs that I got from Mitch, who got them originally from Pete Taylor, although at the moment, it seems to have made absolutely no difference whatsoever XD

After loads of faffing about, swearing and beating the crap out of the thing, it only took 90 minutes to replace the spring on the drivers side!

Then, now that we knew how to actually do it, it took about 10 minutes to do the passengers side.... >_>

Still have the rears to do but that\'s a job for tomorrow morning. Pics are as follows with before & after\'s.

Rare photo of me actually doing something for once :p

Stock ride height

Differences in spring sizes (and rust quantity)

Looks like a Tim Burton creation >_>

New ride height - exactly the same as before....... >_>

Note the spring thickness, the new ones will be stiffer than the old ones. Also the ride height will settle a little - and it\'s my guess you took the 2nd photo after lowering the car, but that\'s irrelevant, because the car needs to be driven backwards and forwards for the springs to (again) settle into place.

As soon as you move the car it\'ll look different! Good work though, it\'s a pain in the arse isn\'t it, learning new jobs on cars?!

Lacey

I\'m sure it\'ll settle down a bit eventually, probly won\'t get much lower though, which will be good for when I fit the 18\'s eventually, for now I\'ve got a set of original T-II rims with proper, legal rubber around all 4 tyres, so at least the tyres will pass an MOT now at least, fingers crossed on the rest.

Still got the rear suspension to do tomorrow morning.

And yeah it\'s amazing fun, drivers side took way over 90 mins to do, figuring out the best way to actually do it, start to finish passenger side took 10 - 15 minutes to drop, compress the spring, swap the springs, and completely re-assemble. Just hoping it\'s as easy to do on the rears as it was on the fronts.

Also tomorrow since the suspension on the front of the car will have settled a bit more - the strut brace goes on! Couldn\'t be arsed to do it last night, was tired and my legs were really hurting from shifting about on the floor a lot. Havn\'t got that greasy for ages!

Didn\'t get the back suspension done today, was far too exhausted, but got the back wheels swapped over for some other OEM T-II ones so the car has legal rubber all around now, one less thing for it to fail the MOT with!

Also got my Cusco front strut brace on too. :)

Will look much better lowered! That is also a very nice brace you\'ve got there! So how long until you put \'it\' back on the road?

That IS lowered, that\'s what it looks like with the lowering springs on (at the front at least), so somehow I don\'t think the rears will be any different either, which is kind of a shame since I was hoping there would be more of a drop on the front than the rear, since the rears are already kinda low anyway.

And I don\'t know, as long as a piece of string, civic is off down the body shop a week yesterday to have some repair work done (scratches on the back bumper sorted and sprayed, and front wing professionally resprayed since my attempt was crap) and then it will be back ready to go up for sale. Wanted to get stuff sorted since unless I was in desperate need to be rid of it, I wouldn\'t sell a car I own in any kind of state / condition I wouldn\'t buy it in.

Once it\'s back and back to near-mint again it\'ll be going up for 2650ono

And yeah! I likes me Cusco brace! Thank you Mitch! Now I owe you money XP

:D is ok :D I now have a blue one lol :) shiiiney :D now you can use the strut brace for its primary function - something to lean on to see what pipe is leaking/need fitting/*insert small item dropping* :)

They have a purpose other than a leaning bar? :O
