Hey folks!

Finally got my laptop fixed..

...a couple of updates..new stereo fitted, looking fantastic...thanks to all who helped out, inc the very useful wiring diagrams!!Big thanks to Paul who install the stereo after removing about 20 wires from the loom....

..subs are fitted into the rear seats, back support section and looking good..need tidied up, but waiting for decent weather to complete, then i\'ll attach some photos. It was a \'orrible job, cutting into the section, but i\'m very pleased!Couple of rattles around the plastic interior but i\'ll sort that soon!

..my strange fault is this..first in the morning turn the car on the seatbelt warning light comes on and bleeps...but the dash board light flashes (normally static)..the belt clips in but the warning light continues to flas and bleep..the bleep gets less and less before stopping but the light continues to flash...then it slows stop..after about 10mins.....

...doesn\'t happen again all day, even when the car has sat for hours with turning over....STRANGE!!!!!!!

Anybody got any ideas??????

Check for a loose earth.

Sounds just like the problem I had too:
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9419

Mine disappeared by itself (sort of) but then returned later that day.  I had been fiddling with the instrument panel, but had also just taken out the old jap stereo.  As Brett says, it\'s probably a loose/bad earth somewhere.

I went around checking all multiplugs and connections under the dash, and it\'s yet to return.  Just out of interest, do your windows function correctly when the seat belt light is flashing??

leggysrx7

..cheers for the advice..

..started her yesterday and no fault..grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....anyway, havent tried using the windows when the bleepy, flashy thing is happenin...i\'ll try later once i finally get ready for work....

..sounds like you might know where the fault is, when the light flashes the window only moves down when in-between the flashes......

...where could the dodgy earth be????????

Help please

Hey Marc

Sorry but I\'ve not managed to track down the specific earth that\'s causing our grief! I\'ve not had the time, or a dry enough day (what the hell happened to summer this year??? (I though global warming was supposed to make things dryer??!!)).

The problem seams to be the little black box under the drivers side dash, just left of the fuses etc.  There are a few multiplugs that plug in here.  I dont know what this box actually is (could someone tell us??), but it does seem to control the seat belt warning, as well as all the other warning beeps when you open your door or leave the lights on.

Until I get my car back (going to RX motors today for its rebuild), I\'m not going to be able to investigate further.

Has anyone had the dash out?  Is there a common earth point behind there somewhere?

I dont even know if I still have this problem, but will find out when the car\'s picked up today.

Sorry I couldn\'t be any more help than that!

Sorry Marc,

Looks like your in for a few hours of \'find that wire\'.  TBH Earths are usually all connected to the body/chassis at some point.  Its time consuming but you will have to follow the loom around and look for dodgy earths.

Can\'t wait for that exciting day!!I\'ll leave it for the moment....it\'s too nice, washin and waxing the car today!!

Had the same problem chaps.

Started just last week, now it has gone by itself.

Not sure if anything to do with it, but I used the remote while inside the car and belted up and that seemed to stop it?
just a coincidence?

Greg

PS: the windows only work in between the bleeps of the light on the dash, I know I tried it.

Problem cured!

Rx Motors sent me out a replacement F100 box to fit, except this one says F110 on it!?  Anyway it\'s identical to the old box, including all the part/serial numbers and the electrical specs written on the front.  Maybe it\'s from a later car? Fitted it on Monday and problem solved.  I had noticed that the old box only played up when it was cold and therefore maybe damp inside, so I\'ll be cracking open the old one and looking for signs of water damage.  Maybe it\'s repairable.

Hope this helps

thanks for the tip mate. The problem appeared again on my Rex twice last week, when it was cold also!
Now its gone again.

correct! they do get damp inside and end up burning away the electrical tracks on the circuit board.,easily fixed with some wire and a soldering iron.
