Finally got the battery sorted & tried to start the fd, it turns over fine but will not fire.

Thought it may be flooded so took out plugs dried & cleaned & turned over a few times with egi fuse pulled & tried again but still no joy

Im thinking there may be something wrong with plugs, im running 9\'s on top & 7\'s at bottom

Is there a simple way of testing plugs are firing without a multimeter or any gadgets?

Mir

The is a way to test your plugs without the aforementioned, but if you are not mechanically minded, it may be a problem for you to check.

I figured remove the plug & recennect it to th ht lead, touch he thread on some metal & crank the engine?

I did try this but no joy

This is what I was gone suggest! So you saw no spark there??? Umm interesting! Check your coils and wires I suggest!

Ok, since you checked your plugs, I would check to see if your coils are getting any voltage. Un-clip the harness that splits the plugs into three(goes to your coils) check to see if your getting a 12 volt from one of the 4 slots in the plug. If not, then check your connection to the igniter. Also check to see if your getting power into the igniter, if you  are check that your getting power out of the igniter...

It\'s a simple process of elimination.

Are the HT leads connected up the right way round?

Got a new set of 7\'s & 9\'s from Sparkplugs.co.uk & she fired up fine & runs sweet so im guessing the old plugs were at fault

Managed to put a pinhole in the coolant pipe under the uim though so now need to replace that

Thanks for all the help

Yeah, new plugs can make a difference, have you still got the old HT leads btw? I changed mine for some uprated ones and it made a massive difference!

Eoiny555

Yeah still old ones but seem fine
