Considering a fmic for the fd, is there any other mods that would need to be done? or is it as simple as bolting on & off you go?

Car is pretty much standard btw

Apexi ECU and induction kit will be needed.. but i would also recommend changing the downpipe to a quality aftermarket one and upgrade the injectors. Doing this will mean you will be able to use the twins at the maximum boost.

I would look in to finding your self a good rotary tuner near you for advice and mapping.

WGT auto devolpments are not to far from you mate :)

What they\'re saying is if you want to actually get any benefit from the FMIC you\'ll have other work to do as well.  If you just want an agressive looking intercooler I think you can install with minimal mods (radiator pipes, mounting brackets, aircon condenser, hack up your bumper depending on which FMIC you go for, and PAS cooler reroute)

...nearly drivable...Just need MOT...

you dont need with a power fc to fit a front mount intercooler.

you will just run at lower intake temps which your stock ecu will be fine with, it it wasnt it would like be saying a standard car might blow up in winter when air temps drop below zero

but surely with better airflow and colder air (as it won\'t be sitting behind the radiator like the SMIC you can remap the PFC for more power??
Work hard, play hard house :D

turbotoaster

true, yes you can map for more power with a big cooler over mapping with a stock cooler, but you dont have to remap the car to fit a bigger cooler

trotter

ahh, i see, so if you don\'t remap, then surely you won\'t see a massive benefit from it, which makes it kinda pointless?

not really, when intake temps increase you lose power, either by the air being less dense or the car pulling timing out of the map so keeping the air temps low does give you the full performance for more of the time.

Its like having a car mapped for 98ron fuel, if you put 95ron fuel in the car, the ecu will know and retard timing so you loose power but your engine is safe(this is modern stuff, not apexi)

jackaleks

if you have other modifications (filters, free exhaust) it\'d probably be wise to get a standalone ECU and a map before putting a large FMIC on.

Eoiny555

Its more for the looks for the time being, there are air filters & a 3" exhaust tailpipe installed

Just wondering would i get away with it without having to spend loads on other supporting mods. Dont want to install it & have the car running lean or rich & have to go buy a fc commander & other bits to rectify it

Indian

You will be fine with just the intercooler. There is not big science behind this. You wont "lean out" or anything .
Intercooler, exhaust, filters, pulleys.. and the stock computer will be fine to use. What you have to watch out for is boost spiking which occurs with a full 3" exhaust.

What some people fail to understand is that the stock computer is very good. It has some features like fuel cut, knock sensor..etc.

Eoiny555

Well i have a electronic valve controller fitted so im assuming that will take care of the boost spike, not sure if its a full 3" system
