I have to say i\'m with Mir here completely,

If you want a V8 for the reasons previously mentioned go buy a yank tank and treat yourself..

Once a rare and precious FD has had its heart removed with a bulky lump of metal the chances of that vehicle ever returning to greatness is almost definitely lost! so it might as well be scrapped for the heritage that car ONCE had is most definitely destroyed!

down with ALL piston transplants get yourself another car to ruin....

V8 V6 or whatever, it don\'t matter to me.

tinker-27

you carry on scrapping them and i will carry on saving them and one day we will out number you !!! mind you most of you love the fd so much you are not even members of the club ..

Mir

So now it is coming down to a membership issue, isn\'t it?? out number us??????? I think at the moment piston FDs are out numbered by Rotary FDs, So, this statement is nothing but a good dream.... unless fulfiled. I wish you Good Luck with it. :)

At least us Rotary owners are very reasonable, we have never said that Rotary FDs have out numbered Piston Fds...because we know its a fact and it will remain a strong fact lollll

at the end of the day an FD is a great car because of the whole package, not just the powerplant. i\'ve got no problem with the LS swap, it makes sense... you get a great chassis with a reliable and easily developed engine. it\'s not a better or worse solution than a rotary powerplant, just a different one!

JZ swap on the other hand, total waste of time, if you\'re going to go piston at least do it properly :D

Is this the wrong time to announce I\'m putting a 2ltr Audi diesel in mine? :Thumbs-up

Good luck to the original poster, no engine conversion is an easy task, and neither is wading through the arguments such engine conversions cause on this site :Ladys-man

i love rotarys but at the same time i love v8s:Thumbsup!

Since the R in RX7 stands for Rotary, surely you should call an RX7 fitted with a V8 a "V8x7" or a "V56" and one fitted with a 2jz a 2jzx7?
RX8 High Power, Cusco Coilovers, Dotz wheels and flames. Shoe Size 12

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

"Eat it with a chopstick!"

Like all who  against the conversion you don\'t have experience of both :Nono!

\'Ruin\' ??? Realy? V8 RX7\'s rock mate end of. They might be different but they are still very much a \'7\'.

Rotary ones rock too which is why I stuck with my singled one (my third RX7) and I do more miles each and every month than most owners do in a year (is there a Shell garage smiley?)

Craig\'s V8 converted cars are brilliant. I made my choice but have nothing but respect for this alternative, as do most (all?) who have more experience of both than looking at some pics on the internet and getting all keyboard drunk :rollin

Oh yea ive only looked at RX7\'s in pictures on the internet dreaming of those lovely butchered V8x7\'s... haha

Joker! dont get so upset by my own opinion and have to get personal as you clearly dont know me which im very pleased to acknowledge :WaveBye

I think we should let this thread go back to the original 2jz swap as the v8 thing has been done time and time again good look with your build and don\'t let people talk you out of doing what you want with your car and your money , it is only a car after all

I don\'t agree! It all depends what the car is going to be used for. Track use, obviously as Tinker has proved the V8 is the way to go. Try picking an LSV8 engine and box up for 2JZ/R154 money, it just isn\'t going to happen unless I go out and steal a Monaro!
For a reliable 600hp atf in a lightweight chassis I disagree, I will be building this \'Mazota 2JZ\' ;-) and will be ringing Tinker at some point no doubt, I just know i\'m going to get stuck with something!
