Todays problem is that the master cylinder seems to have packed up, brake is good at the start but then sinks to the floor so have to pump it.
Question. 1. Where is my car from whenever i quote my chassis number it seems that the car is an import and they want to know where from.
Chassis SA22C00654516.
Question. 2 Where do i get one from? American ebay seems to be the place.

From a earlier post Jan 2010.  http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62102

Just picked up master cylinder from Mazda.

David, Part No FA 66-43-400 cost £173.37 + vat.

I got a 15% discount so I paid £173.15 inc vat.

Now all I have to do is fit it..........out come the axle stands again.............

Because you can apply for a V5 with just the chassis number

Yes, but they do attempt to contact the current registered owner - so it\'s not all bad.

That\'s the earliest RX7 chassis number series :)

forget the chassis number, your car is a series 2  ( 1981-1983) Just look on ebay for a master cylinder to suit a 1st gen rx7 for those years.... there are plenty on there. The main stealers will fleece you.... you can import one from the US for around £60 shipped.
Most series 2\'s were designated as FB\'s on the vin but some markets continued with the SA designation that was 1st used on the series 1 cars then changed to FB for most markets. As a general rule, UK model 1st gens are SA\'s for series 1 and FB\'s for series 2&3 although there was some crossover between model changes.
Most main stealer parts dept counter staff wouldn\'t know a 1st gen if it ran them over.

Download the series 2 parts catalogue from here and you\'ll have more info to hand than the Mazda dealers have these days...

you can then check out the part number you need.

Problem then with my Merc Luxobarge, and other cars like it.....The VIN is right up in the gap between windscreen and passenger dash, so it can be seen but not got at: seen even by a casual passer by with a notebook.

Now\'t I can do about that so I don\'t worry.....

VIN seems to be a perfectly normal number for an early series 2 UK car.

As Ian said above, we used to think S1\'s were SA\'s and that all S2\'s/S3\'s were FB VINs.
Then we discovered not long back that the first part of the S2 production for UK was SA as well.

So no, don\'t think it\'s an import. I do figure it\'s a Rereg on an Irish plate to keep it away from a date marker on the plate, but lots do that.

From what you describe you\'ve just got to search for a UK Series 2 master cylinder or kit from somewhere.

that\'s what all keep asking ourselves! The dealers try to complicate things because they don\'t know the cars and just use the same formula that they do for modern cars. We don\'t need vin numbers to get parts for 1st gens... it\'s easy.... just id which series the car is and job done.

I wonder when was the last time in recent years someone went to the trouble of ringing a 1st gen, given that they are worth sod all in the 1st place?
