Some more nice videos Jim. It\'s really great to see how well the FC performs in the corners. Engine sounds lovely, and it\'s hard to miss hearing the rev buzzer, unlike in the RX-8 where it can be a bit quiet at times!

You try it in a stripped FD :Giggle

Looks really good through the corners.

OK, details on the key fob cameras for those who are interested:

Here\'s the ebay seller that I\'ve been buying from, I\'ve not had a package go amiss yet and the comms has been pretty good: internet-shop365

The cameras now seem to come in two flavours, the main difference being an extended battery life. You\'re looking for an H808 #11 camera that produces MOV output files in the H.264 format at 1280x720 resolution and 30fps. Other formats  indicate a different type of camera and lower picture quality, as does a much cheaper price ;)

The original H808 with approx 45 minutes of recording time (I\'ve got two of these now)
Newer design with a larger battery, slightly more expensive

You\'ll also need a microSD card. Recording 20 minutes of video takes about 1Gb of storage, so I\'d recommend a minimum of 4Gb.  You should also get a class 4 or higher card (otherwise you risk dropping frames and disrupting the video recording). Unfortunately Ebay is notorious for re-programming SD cards to have a larger capacity, so links are to Amazon instead.

Sample 8Gb microSD card from Amazon
4Gb microSD card from Amazon

Finally you\'ll need something to connect the camera to the car, I\'ve used 3M Dual Lock tape which is like velcro but much much better. It has more uses than just mounting cameras :Thumbs-up

3M Dual Lock, 1m length
3M Dual Lock, more length options but more expensive

Just ordered one of the bigger battery ones. Hopefully I won\'t kill that one !

thanks for that ian,   I assume the only difference between these and the ones below are the size of the actual camera?

Ian, do you use a class 4 card??

I had a class4 in my camera and using it at Finmere last year, even this had dropped frames etc. Now have a class6 (8GB) card, and its much better (as you can see in my youtube videos), well worth the extra money.

The minimum recommended for these cards is a class 4, though not all cards are created equal and some can underperform in a nasty way :(

I actually have a class 6 however it might be pressed into service into another video or SLR camera at short notice so I thought it worth having the higher spec.

Ian, Thanks for the camera details, I\'m considering buying.

On a similar note, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced lap timer device ?

Thanks
Chris

HypoThermia

No problems Chris - I\'m still looking at other things that I can do with the cameras on the day.

We\'re using video cameras to do the timing for us, and very much after the day has completed. Unfortunately the track day event has insurance that specifically excludes lap timers and such as it is a non-competitive event. I must admit that I\'d like the feedback from knowing that I\'m going quicker and improving, however those are the rules :Grrr
