Right then, looking into more things to do to my rex after sorting the exhaust system out is coming back to the ecu

Now as mine is a proper UK car which resulted in a big fail when trying to use that apexi neo i was potentially looking at the megasquirt route....

ALTHOUGH i see alot of mention about the emanage which leads me to the first big question of...Will it work with a UK N/A?

Now building on to this, from the bit of reading ive done so far ive seen talk that you can use the emanage to change the airflow meter or even removing it?

And finally for now, would you reckon the emanage would be better to use over megasquirt as i\'m mainly looking at fueling....

Thanks guys

If you go the emanage route - go with the ultimate.

Air Flow Meter: Yes it does allow you to replace it - with ANY meter of the SAME TYPE - so you can replace flapper/cone types with any manufacturers flapper/cone type - any hotwire for another - you get the picture.  You can also build a map to remove the AFM altogether, - you\'ll need to add a MAP sensor (even to an N/A) to do this properly.

It will give you control over fuel for sure, and let you change injector sizes.  On an N/A you probably won\'t get ignition timing as that\'s done using a distributor.

It still needs the original ECU in place.

I run one on my TII - have done for several years - and it\'s relatively easy to use - just wiring is a pita as their are no wiring kits for the older cars - only FD\'s and RX8\'s

sounds like a lot of money to be spending on an N/A (not that they\'re bad cars, I loved mine). But what are you aiming for with it? Bang for buck I can\'t see it being worth it

it is quite a bit really... although i picked the car up pretty cheap, No real aims as such apart from just trying to get extra bhp and the emanage side of things is just to have a go at getting better mpg for normal driving and any extra power for track days, I normally use my mx5 which is alright but needing something more to take out and ive got this rx7 sitting on the drive

Prof - With the air flow meter stuff, does the emanage see the uk afm fine as that was the problem with the neo, mine is a 12v and the neo is only for 0-5v afm\'s?

The AFM output is a 0-5v signal - the AFM resistor track is fed from the Vref output on the ECU.  I know the N/A flapper AFM has an extra switch to do with the fuel pump cutoff - that\'s probably where you\'re 12 signal is coming from.  I\'m sure the NEO would also have been fine.

I know the voltage i was getting at either the ecu side or from the plug was something like 8v which increases in voltage when the flap is manipulated and with help from a couple of people over at rx7club we realized that my afm is a 12v and not a 5v?

Although maybe there was something we were missing...

I think it depends where you measure it from...

For example - if you put a multimeter lead on the variable leg, and the other on the 12v supply line, then the voltage you read will be between 8 and say 11V - but you should measure the voltage going to the ECU pin using the red multimeter lead, and have the black multimeter lead on ground / chassis / battery negative.  The readings should then be somewhere between 0v and 5v.  The only reason I say that is the ECU internally uses 5V, and the analog to digital chip on the ECU circuit board that reads the various sensors is also running from 5V and expects 5v inputs.

i measured the voltage going to the ecu and on the plug, when i measued the voltage going to the ecu it was around 8v and i think the plug on the afm was reading 12v

Does anyone have a wiring diagram or anything for the emanage blue or ultimate as i cant seem to find anything? potentially might be able to get an emanage ultimate for a good price with software, map sensor but just trying to see how it installs

There\'s a full wiring setup for the emanage ultimate in the members section :)

When you say the members section, you\'re meaning the paid area yeah?

And M1tch - with that it comes under the same problem i was having with the apexi neo where my rx7 is a UK model and the ecu is different to the others... so whilst the first two connector blocks look the same, the final block which is 24pin in the image is only 14pin on my ecu...

Right so whilst its not the ultimate, i may be able to get hold of an emanage blue for under £100, Now whilst the ultimate is going to be the better box, i imagine the blue would still do the basic things i need...

Now with the wiring that comes with the box, is there anything else that i\'d need or will i be fine with out all the other harnesses?

Now with that in mind im going to have to get hold of wiring diagrams for a UK ECU which isn\'t going to be nice, with the emanage ultimate wiring setup in the members area, if thats for a uk ecu, i should be fine following that yeah?

and finally...should i actually bother the blue? is it that bad?
