TII Rebuild Success

Well, for the last 2 years I\'ve had a Turbo II and all needed parts to do a rebuild... The main thing I lacked was the time to do it (and money for a few little bits)...
 
Over the last couple of weeks I have found the time to do it and now it\'s up and running...

Everything is working on it except the wiper switch (which was constantly on fast no matter what was selected), which after some persuasion now gives me off, single speed and the washers.... Which is fine for now, I\'ll fix the switch properly later
 
The only problem I have with it is that it seems to be running rich at lower revs (much smoke, a bit like after deflooding but less severe) and either running really rich or very lean at high revs or under load like going up a hill (spluttering and feeling like it\'s gunna stall)
 
I\'m assuming this is probably either a stuck or leaky injector (or both) since all the parts have been stored in a box in the garage for 2 years, but I don\'t really know a lot about fuel systems so I\'m just guessing..
 
Has anyone got any other suggestions on what it might be (preferably simpler ones to look at before I have to go taking stuff off the car to get at the injectors, lol)

I can\'t help on the technical question, bit I can offer congratulations for finishing the rebuild.

Well done mate and good luck sorting out the smokey start, could it be just because it\'s freshly rebuilt? Either way I\'m sure it\'s nothing big to worry about. Furthermore someone on here is bound to know and be able to help.

Umm, probably a total of about 6 or 7 hours overall...
 
during that I drove it around the carpark a fair bit as well, but I\'m not sure how many miles I covered doing that... Probably about 5 or 6, lol
 
The problem is that I don\'t think it\'ll pass an MOT while it\'s like it is and I can\'t drive it anywhere now because it\'s back home in the garage (I only had this week to use the workshop at work...) so I can\'t (legally) take it anywhere...
 
Obviously I can sit and run it in my garage as much as I want... Once I have the extractor system set up, lol

Thanks very much It\'s been my first ever project on a car of any sort and I started out with little to no mechanical knowledge, so I\'m just happy it\'s working at all, lol

I wonder if it\'s got a sensor fault somewhere or earthing issue - I had something similar - turned out to be a lose wire on the OMP feedback.
 
It\'s also worth checking the sensors inside the CAS unit -I was reading a thread over on the RX7 club where someone said they had issues at higher revs, and it turned out to be the sensors being too far away from the teeth on the CAS encoding wheels.

OMP feedback... That\'s a good thing to look at \'cause it\'s not that easy to see, so I may have missed it... I\'ll start with that I think, then I\'ll tackle the CAS... Failing that I\'ll get to work on the earth...

(I\'m gunna try everything humanly possible before I start taking stuff off that requires more than 1 or 2 wires! Especially since apart from the smoke it\'s running brilliantly!)

Congratulations on doing it yourself - it\'s worth it, when you get it running sweet you\'ll look back at the build process and think - I did that :cheers

Yeah one day Im gonna have to have a go at doing the blown engine I have tucked away. That way I can just swap it out for mine when it blows. Anyone got a full rebuild kit they want to donate?

I took a car that I bought with pretty much everything busted (Clutch, clutch slave, clutch master, engine, steering rack) and made it live again Feels fantastic
