as im removing my inlet plenum tomorrow to change my solenoid pack i was wondering if anyone knew the torque setting for the securing nuts and the bolts which go through to the lim. Im just concerned with stripping the threads as its aluminium buti obviously want it tight enough to create a seal.

Also will the old gasket be ok to use?

Thankyou in advance for any help.:Thumbs-up

just do them up and then pinch them one by one and go back over them and check they are all still tight. ive taken mine off loads and never stripped a thread yet.  although now ive said that i prob will next time  :evillaugh

thanks for that and touch wood you dont now  lol.think iv just found it in the service manual i downloaded and think its 22nm but will have to double check tomorrow as only viewed it on my phone.

Did you replace your gasket each time you tool it off? Thought i read that earlier models used a paper gasket but later ones used a metal one?

//www.fdrx7.com has some useful Series 8 info, including the solenoid pack removal. Might be worth registering and having a look through. Be careful when lifting the plenum - from memory there is a connector underneath which I found a right pain to release. Also, I remember the pipes were very tight connecting to the pack - but you seem to be replacing the pack and the pipework to? So it may not be a problem if you break the plastic pack when removing? With gaskets between the plenum and the UIM, I think I re-used it a couple of times with no problems - but that was after fitting a new one (I ended up taking the plenum off several times).
Have fun!!
