Hi

I need to have a look at fixing my indicators [self cancel] and wipers [work when they feel like it] so I need to take the cowl off.

As all the buttons & knobs seem to go through this do they have to come off first - if so how are they attached.

I also have the cruise control lever - how is that attached.

Lastly I need to straighten up the steering wheel alignment - what size nut is it.

Thanks

John
I started with nothing and I have most of it left

The nut is a 22mm I think. Remove the steering wheel before removing clocks, which you do to remove the cowl.

The cowl has the indicators, cruise control, wipers etc built in, in little units. So remove the entire thing as one piece. (I think you can get the cowl off without removing the wires from the back of the clocks, but you do need to pull the clocks forward)

The indicators and cruise levers have a little screw holding them on, the knobs just pull off. Think the steering wheel is 19mm.
I\'ve got a spare indicator switch thing if you need one, the wiper switch will needs new relays soldering onto the old relays. (far easier than removing the old relays damaging the board)

Correction on my original post and more detail, the clocks don\'t come out before the surround.
The surround has 3 screws at the top, 2 at the bottom. There\'re 4 screws underneath, the bigger ones hold the cowl in, the other 2 hold the corresponding instrument to the cowl.

Oh and the self cancel is on the steering wheel, so you definitely need to remove that. Mine doesn\'t work. It worked for a while after I fitted an aftermarket boss and steering wheel, then one day just \'broke\' and the steering felt better, and I have to remember to manually cancel now! I regularly forget though :p

This is a detailed how-to I had made in the past about how to replace the steering wheel... Btw the nut is 21mm.

The switches are together as an assembly with the instrument cluster. The cluster is held in place by means of 5 screws as mentioned by papercutout. You will need to disconnect 4 plugs after you detach the cluster, and it all comes off as 1 piece.

The turn signal lever and Cruise Control lever are held in place by 2 screws at the back. You will first need to undo the levers themselves in order to get clearance to get them out. They got a little screw in their inner elbows. The cruise control lever has some wires through it for the button and therefore can\'t be removed entirely.
The light and wiper cluster switches are held in place by two screws, one at the back and one at the bottom. You will need to get the buttons out first (pull them gently straight out) and also both the lever clusters.

BE VERY CAREFUL when reassembling the switches, as the instrument cluster plastic is very very very fragile and when it cracks, it turns into pieces. And that thing IS expensive!!
