Hi everyone, I have now fitted the massive twin horn BOV, I have now named it the \'MOABOV\' after the \'MOAB\' which is the mother of all bombs, its rather large lol

Here it is installed:

Its fairly large :chat

Here it is causing backfires lol

B.Martin

Looks cool mate, great stuff!

m1tch

Plus my massive RE-A filter and uber thick pace cored IC :D

B.Martin

Yeah i like that filter. Ive just been reading through your progress blog you\'ve got a nice car mate. First TII I\'ve seen with an uprated top mount, never thought about that. But great progress you\'ve made, great to finally have my own now and draw inspiration from others.:Thumbs-up

m1tch

The top mount is a copy of an ARC TMIC, Prof has the original - his is an ARC TMIC with a pace core, whereas mine is a custom copy of the ARC one lol its already been pre-sold lol max cooling - no lag :)

The filter will be up for grabs at some point, its too small for the T88

B.Martin

Let me know when you do, I\'m going to be just running a hks replacement element. Maybe I\'ll look into an uprated top mount now too, vet it\'s a damn site easier to fit!! Then again bet they\'re a damn site harder to find lol!

m1tch

Ok, if you are running the air pump and don\'t move the filter too far forward like I have it has a port at the back for that as well, its all setup for the FC, really does help air flow into the turbo.

Yeah but I would suggest to get a Greddy compression tube as well, you can see the reason why:

OEM side mounted intake vs Greddy:

Surely the stock AFM is the most restrictive part of the intake?

That greddy compression tube looks a hell of an improvement though, and I\'d love an uprated/bigger TMIC...!

m1tch

The stock air flow meter is ok, although it does have a plastic movable cone in the middle lol with my setup its almost maxxed out, I will have to change to a large hotwire MAF with the T88 as thats a 100mm inlet lol

The S curve of the intake is very restrictive as well, I might create some pipework for it, or just wait for the T88

If 400bhp worth of airflow is restrictive - lol.  Electrically it becomes useless at about 12 psi, as it\'s output drops to 0v, leaving the air fuel to be calculated soley by the MAP sensor.

Fair enough. It\'s just we all fit larger pipework, bigger airfilters etc etc, but that thing has an internal diameter of about 2" (if that), which strikes me as restrictive when trying to flow massive amounts of air.

If it\'s 400bhp\'s worth of air, then why would we get benefits making any of the rest of the pipework bigger? Yes, I can see what benefits you gain from a smoother flow but surely there\'s no need to have pipework with a bigger internal diameter than the AFM, because it\'ll make sod-all difference? Smoother flow being achieved by less bends, and good piping. Are you increasing the size of the pipes because when you get bends etc, they\'re restrictive, and so by making it bigger it can flow the same as if it were narrower and straight?

Compression tube - yes, because it can feel the air into the throttle body butterflies more evenly.

Prof

Air flow is a curious thing, the performance air filters are designed to accelerate the air into the AFM, making the air flow faster through there.  However, on a stock FC, the 2 90 degree bends in the induction will easily undo most of that work .

The compression tube has a wierd name, considering the shape of it and the fact it probably does the exact opposite :rollin
