My third gen Rex has been laid up for a few weeks and I\'ve just started it up and the rev counter is not working. This has never happened before.  Is it likely to be connected to not using the car for a while? and is there an easy fix?

Any advice appreciated.  :(
FD or not FD? that is the question.

The FDs seem to have an issue with their intrument cluster, it usually involves getting a complete replacement one.

Try those first and if no joy replace the rev dial mate.

I got a spare working one if you need, but i would just check connections on the back first.

How much do you want for the rev dial mate, posted? Cheers.

PS. Here\'s a fix for a dodgy rev counter. I\'m just too lazy to do it.

Is that £40 for the single gauge?! or for the whole instrument cluster?

Many thanks for the replies. Before I go any further I will have a fiddle and see if its just a simple dodgy connection somewhere. It just seems strange to me that I\'ve had the car 5 years with no problems and then just sitting in my drive unused for 5 or 6 weeks (under cover) and the Rev Counter stops working. :xconfused

Same happened to mine yesterday, got a call from Jon saying everything works but the odometer isn\'t showing. Looks like a common problem from the quick search it did on RX7Club.

Interestingly this happened to my new Rex today - this has been stood for a while too.  I\'m told this can happen after it is stood.  Anyhow after a while (fair old while) it started working again and has been fine since!
