Hi everyone,

Just a random quick question, if I just had a bare block engine, could I just bolt on some carbs and the engine would fire up? I am guessing I would need to drive the OMP using something? And the coil packs etc for the spark plugs, plus power for the low pressure fuel pump.

Basically what would the simplest setup be to get a rotary running?

antnicuk

it might run but it will need a lot of tuning to get it running right
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Would you suggest running an ECU then? how do the 12A 1st gens run with their carbs then?

HaywardRotary

If you are talking about the 13b bridgeport you can run a 1st gen dizzy and coils on the it along with an IDA carb and it would make around 200hp plus with the low compression rotors.
Will PM address tomorrow!

Was thinking more along the lines of the standard engine that is currently in the car that the bridgeported engine will be swapped with :) looks like it might be easier to sell the turbo II engine and buy an EGI lump

antnicuk

just on carbs isnt so much of a problem but you said you wanted to turbo it, thats a different ball game........  Mazda 12a turbo was injected,  the standard car had a complicated little carb but no turbo.  Elford turbo used an SU carb from a metro on a draw through system but it only made 160 bhp and wasnt good for that much more.

Carb inlet manifold can be purchased from "tweek it"  in oz I think

bumpstart

the adapters avail in aus allow you to use a 12a inlet manifold onto either 13b 6p or 13bt engines
( you can also specify 13b inlet manifold )
this will also include an IDA manifold either 12a or 13b
tweakit also sell IDA manifolds direct for these blocks

13bt to 12a carb manifold pictured

you will also require a dizzy and coils from a first gen rx7
