Hello all,  Ive heard alot about how thirsty the RX7 is. Im curious to know any owners view on exactly how much it costs to run it per mile if I bought an auto RX to use as a daily driver (e.g. regular commuter driving)

Hi there,

Generally the turbo rotary is pretty heavy on fuel, and wouldn\'t really make a good daily driver if you are doing a stack of miles.

You will tend to drive it hard, so fuel useage will be heavy :)

But - if you take it easy then you can get as much as 30mpg, this is really taking it easy and not letting the turbos spool up too much.

I use to get around 250miles out of 65 litres (14.3 UK gal) with a standard 2000 model 265hp FD.  A mix of city and motorway, average driving.

250 / 14.3 = 17.5mpg
Thanks,

Matt

i find that £10 lasts me about 30 miles around town, i think thats likd 13mpg

Its quite shocking that I am beginning to think of my 400bhp R32 GTR as \'economical\' next to an FD. I get 15-25mpg in the GTR, I expect about 10-20 in the 350bhp ish RX7.

I have now got my scoob back to standard trim, from being heavily modified. Even when in play trim the scoob was better on the pocket than the FD, but the FD is more rewarding to drive than a pansy AWD box! ;)

RX7 = purpose designed sports car

GTR or Scoob = converted family wagon :p ... What do you expect :D

From a TurboII convertible, I get about 20mpg. Best ever was 24mpg, and worst (but best fun) - 8mpg on a track.
