Excellent news that this is now full as Malcolm and myself wanted all of you to put on a Rotary only session to show the great and varied cars that Mazdarotaryclub encompasses in front of the largest Japanese car event in Europe :Thumbsup!

Have fun out there :D
All the best Clive

:Thumbs-up A huge thankyou to everyone\'s support on this.

I persuaded Clive to stump up some club cash upfront to secure an exclusive track session (and discount), as this was the only way Japfest would guarantee a slot for us. If we\'d have got less than 15 people takeup the offer then I would have been hugely embarrassed! To get all 20 filled is fantastic.

I know (from my trackday experiences) that we\'ll have a really great time out there on track and will, at the same time, be showing our hugely varied collection of rotary powered cars to the massive crowds.

You never know, this could become a regular feature of future attendances at Japfest........

I feel the RX-4 would be just a little slow :( so it will have to be the RX-8 :D

Is the plan to complete the first lap in some sort of pre agreed formation. Its rare to have so many Rotary\'s on the track at the same time, so a great opportunity for lots of photos.

Casey

Nice idea Chris. I have absolutely nothing from the Japfest organisers about exactly how the track sessions will run, so we may not find out until the briefing on the day. If that\'s the case, and if it is just our session in the briefing at 9.10am, I might try and sneak in an extra brief about keeping "grouped" for the first lap - if they\'ll let me! Some sort of two abreast formation, but staggered for safety, might work? After rounding the last corner onto the S/F straight then each car in the stagger can pull away and the next car leaves a gap before doing the same.

They may not let us do this, maybe wanting to release cars from the pits with timed gaps for H&S though?

If they won\'t let us do that, we could, on seeing the chequered flag, get the first car to slow right down to form up into a stagger around the circuit on the last lap. We\'d need to slow down for cooling anyway.......;)

Is that the sort of thing you had in mind?

Anyone done anything like this before?

Slowing on the last lap would be teh best bet, they will likely do a staggered release from the pit

Malcolm,
Yes that\'s the idea I had in mind.

Happy to fall in line with whatever suits everyone...its just essential everyone \'on track\' understands whats going to happen on the day, (from a self preservation H&S perspective), LOL

They release you from the pitlane in sequence at the start.  If you want to get a formation shot then I reckon the best thing would be to slow right down at the end of the session and get your photographers at the first chicane, everyone will be going nice and slowly and there will be plenty of opportunity to get good shots.  Also, slowing down on the last lap will get all the water and oil temperatures down nicely, particularly useful for the RX7 boys who will have turbos and all sorts to worry about as well.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Looks like forming up on the cooling lap is going to be the best option then. I\'ll need to check with the Japfest briefers that this is OK and ensure everyone knows on the day what we are doing and how!

BTW, my tracktime "briefing pack" arrived in the post this morning. Better late than never!
