hi, i wonder if somebody can clarify this for me please?

i have heard that you have to rebuild parts of a rotary engine after 30000 miles and a full rebuildis required after 60000 miles and i have also heard that is not true from an old mazda mechanic (that worked there 20 years ago), so what is the usual way of these things?

isn that the same auld mechanic Lewis E/alfie L/Brain B etccc frae corner garge(sp) taughted me that run it until it was not started anymore.
I normally run it until it\'s not starting anymore and needing a rebuild time.( mostly apex seals)
I\'ve must know you at the airport mazda??

...depends on level of tune, use and how well they are looked after...:WaveBye

got one going strong on 90K and heard of over 100K miles on some too :Thumbs-up

Best words from a tuner was "use it till you kill it". Just make sure its well looked after it properly with oil changes and cooling and you will be happy.

The level of tune really dictates what life it will have. Good cooling, oil and fuel will keep it going for years. Mine stood up to a lot of abuse over 6yrs of its life. Nearly everything was reused on the rebuild. The plates needed skimming (as well as porting :D) but I didn\'t need any brand new big bits.

Mine\'s on 90k and far as I can tell it hasn\'t had a rebuild yet and it\'s still going strong and has perfectly even compression. So don\'t fret!

My turbo II is on 89k miles, 7.2s on the front rotor 6.9s on the rear rotor, 20+ drag runs etc

As long as the oil is changed and looked after, the ancilaries like cooling are ok and it doesn\'t go lean on boost the engine will last a long time!

Plus if you are thinking of performance and additional performance, rotaries don\'t need forged internals, so thats £2k saved already vs forced induction piston engines, a 13BT can run about 800-900 bhp when maxxed :) more boost, more fuel, more cooling, don\'t have to worry about valves getting in the way of air and fuel flow!
