Hi Adam,
from what I can gather, this car used to belong to a member of the old rx7 club and was well known and looked after. It was sold on ebay last December for £500 by RX Motors and since then has been up for sale 2 or 3 times, whether by the same seller I don\'t know.

Here\'s the thread on it at the time...

I think Dave Nock or Dibs ( A7RXY) know more about the cars history than me.

It seems from what Tim at RX Motors was saying about it ( and he\'s as knowledgable and honest as they come) that the car is basically  a nice, well looked after car that is now beginning to show it\'s age and has various areas of corrosion underneath that need attending to and some rusting on the panelwork. It has a current mot though so can\'t be too bad.
I would say that the price RX Motors got for it was probably around it\'s current market value given it needs some tlc.

Some of the other lads might be able to shed some more light on it.

Hi Adam, I knew the owner at the time, but that was 10-15 yrs ago, and these cars can deteriorate quite quickly if not looked after, I\'m sure if you gave Tim a ring at RX motors he would give you a good idear of what was required.

As above really Adam, except it was a high miler in 2002 (134,000 in December of that year). It was then owned by Alan Rees, who we think has died. Then laid up (possibly in RX motors) for a few years and unlicensed on DVLA.

Then Tim put it on ebay in Nov 2010 and it\'s moved about quite a bit on ebay since then, seemingly different sellers, but not certain as it stayed in the London area.

Presently taxed.

It has had an engine rebuild some time ago.

As said, Tim pulled no punches, and he said it had sill trouble when he was selling.

Good idea to ring Tim, ask if he can remember it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info guys. It\'s not for me but for Hannah as she loves everything 80s and saw pictures of the Gen 1s on here and has taken a shine to them and I just happened to find this one on ebay.
Might give Tim a call then and see what he says if you think he knows the car a bit. Not sure if its going to need some welding that would be something we\'d want to get into (never done anything like that before) but if it does stay at a silly low price then it could be a fun little project to have :)

if you just want a car to jump in and enjoy, which is the best way to be introduced to the joys of 1st gen ownership, stay well away from this car.
It\'s been off the road for 8 years, the paintworks rough and it\'ll need loads of work. It\'s a restoration projct really.

Daves got the current list of cars for sale, mot\'d and projects but there are some nice mot\'d 1st gens out there at the moment.

Hi Ian, not to worried about the paint work as painting is something that could be looked into in the future. What other work do you think it might need then?

Hi Adam

This 1st gen is still up for sale, it was a Brooklands.  Think Mr Towensend is looking for around £1700.  Car is based in Croydon

There seems to be a few nice looking cars in the £1000 to £2000 band at the moment and not so many in the sub £1k band.

Do you want to give a budget and we\'ll look out for you. (PM if you like).

But whatever happens beware of the 1st Gen Achilles heel, rear end rust underneath, particularly rear sill rot and rear arch reinforcing plate cracking/rusting out. I think you have to get sight of or get pics of these areas.

the black one is sold.  Any idea of the interior colour of the silver one?
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Would be wine Tony. That\'s the standard interior for Silver S3 anyway.
