To break or not to brake?

Still got my old EGI on my drive, which has not been started in 7 months.  I was planning to brake it and keep a load of bits as spares, and possibly pinch the RB back boxes to go on the new one.  I was also considering taking the engine just so I can take it apart and one day potentially rebuild and port it.

Problem is time and money to do this is not currently readily available and it also seems a shame to pull it to pieces as the chassis was welded last year and is now in pretty good condition (bodywork is shabby but it is by no means rusting to pieces).

So do I brake it for myself and sell bits to fellow members or try and get rid of the car as it is, in the hope that someone else has a bit of fun with her?

how about you take what you can leaving the car working and sell it as a project to someone?

tbh it\'d be easier to sell and spend money on nice bits. breaking can take ages and is generally quite a hassle

Unless you have people who will buy the majority, if not all the parts from you... I\'m willing to partake in that! lol, but seriously, it may be better you keep the bits you need/want, keep it as a runner, but sell as a project as dtheb says... but if you do decide to break, I may be interested in a few bits.

If you break it you\'re going to be left with a load of bits (some large) which you\'ll have to keep, possibly for years, until you finally crack and send them to the tip.  (Been there etc... ;) ). IMO it\'s only worth breaking a car if you have another one and are keeping the parts for yourself and have somewhere to store them.

Also I find it really strange that the parts will always take up more space than the complete car did

Personally I\'d sell it as a runner (project car).

Cheers for the input guys. Space wise im fine, and if I did break it, it would be with a view that I keep a few bits for myself as I intend to keep my other EGI for trackdays, autotests and / or autosolos.  Am quite tempted to sell and see what I get for it as it could help fund my RTEK ECU that I am saving for.
Will go away and have a think.  Will let you know if I do decide to break Skifle.

Thanks

Right then.  I have decided I am going to part company with it, but first I am going to see about swapping the back boxes off it onto my other EGI.  Out of interest Skifle, what bits were you after anyway?

Will be sold as a project car that someone will probably need to trailer.  Will advertise on here first before putting it on flebay.

At least my wife will be happy that im finally willing to get it off the drive :)

Thanks again people.
