I\'ve always had a slight notch getting from first to second, but its never been too bad, but today, I had a little drive today, nothing strenuous, no nasty gearchanges, just a couple of 4/5k changes and revving-to-match-engine-speed downchanges.

I got home, put the car into reverse and it got stuck there, I managed to get it out, went through all the gears with the clutch dipped and now all gears feel notchy and intermittently gets stuck in reverse...

Any ideas? My mechanic friend said it could be the bolts holding the stick have come loose, so I\'m going to check that in the morning, but in the meantime, any other ideas would be appreciated.

Could be clutch, pilot bearing, release bearing, clutch fork, clutch slave...

Basically if the clutch is not disengaging the drive properly, it can feel notchy.

How does the clutch pedal feel - does it spring back nicely, or is it \'mushy\'?

Check the fluid level, look for leaks around the slave / master cylinders, and have someone push the pedal whilst you watch the clutch slave move.

Any noises from the gearbox when it\'s in neutral, or in gear with the clutch down?

Seems unlikely to be the gear box if it\'s affecting all gears, but I could be wrong.

Might be worth checking gearbox oil level too.

I think it might be clutch engagement as well, might just need the clutch system to be bleed or indeed the slave cylinder is on its way out - not sure how mine is still working, its pretty much just a block of rust with a pipe going into it :P

just checked everything, it all looks ok... could me changing all my brake pads yesterday have had anything to do with it?
