Quote from: Steve-A;752118Nope! There was no cover over the fuel filter when Ross originally picked up the car, so I never knew anything was missing. Have you got a picture of what it looks like?

Here\'s the one from Goldie ..

.... and a picture fitted to JAZ (photo could be better though).

Quote from: CHC;752116As for the Watts Link - my thought was that perhaps you had refitted the lateral links the wrong way as there appears to be a slight difference with mine

Missed this comment before. I\'ve tried every combination of lateral link arrangement I can think of, but I\'ll have it all apart again and go through it in a more logical manner I think, and see if I can get it to line up better.

Cheers for the picture of the filter guard too. Rexanne certainly never came with one. Anyone got a spare one kicking about?

I was a bit crafty when I stripped mine out, I marked the top surfaces with reference points so that they are reassembled in the right hole and then they should fit - I hope

Quote from: David Nock;752121Superb work Steve.

I don\'t know how you\'d deal with the little clips. Blooxdy great tie wraps would work but so crude.
You could put self tappers into surfaces that aren\'t part of the oil carrying tube. I don\'t like that either.....hmmm. Araldited clips then.

New clips welded in place? Again not on the axle tube.

make some new tags and bond them on with POR15.... a good dollop of that stuff will stick anything!
Great work there Steve, that tank looks new... very nice...!
This cars going to be one nice RX7 when you\'ve finished it.

Yesterday I had a little more time to play with Rexanne\'s watts link and it refuses to line up properly.

Looking at the centre pivoting section of the link, the two studs that hold the upper and lower lateral links are both at different angles, and they are both in turn not lined up with the angle of the central pivot. This didn\'t seem quite right. I\'ve sent Cliff a message, as I know he\'s got Goldie\'s watts link in bits so easy to check, but I thought I\'d open it up to everyone else!

It just seems odd to me that they are at different angles, and I can see no reason for this. I\'m wondering if the back of Rexanne may have clonked a curb at some stage and bent some links, and the twist to the watts link wasn\'t spotted.....

Either way here\'s a photo looking along the link. You can just about see the two studs and the central pivot hole are all at three different angles. Its one of those things thats pretty easy to measure/see by eye and hard to photograph!

The question is, is this normal?? I\'m not sure it is looking at pictures and diagrams online, but its hard to see.

that looks like it\'s had a smack at some point Steve.... it should look like this...

both studs should be square off the body of the link... You need to find another one I reckon..... and scrutinise the other parts of the link ( arms etc) for distortion....

Steve-A

Thanks Ian.

I\'ve been over the rest of the arms and they look straight enough. Interestingly the lateral links and upper radius links were in noticeably better condition than the lower radius links, so possibly they were replaced after a bash and the distortion to the watts link wasn\'t noticed with the soft factory bushes.

Certainly there\'s no signs of any body repair, indicating a proper rear end shut or similar.

Anyone got one spare before I go round the breakers?

not me, sorry

CHC (RIP)

HI Steve, have sent you a reply PM.
Sorry to say but \'yes, they are bent\' and should be straight as Ian has demonstrated :Hammer.
I\'ve not got one but here is link for one on eBay @ £17.99

I don\'t think it\'s too bad a price for an \'off the shelf\' part but you might consider otherwise.
Only problem is you\'ll have to swap over the new bush and it would have to be this bush - the difficult one.

Tell Pete Markin (Seller) he\'s still on our \'Breakers List\' Free of Charge. And \'Dave says we\'re still willing to help him if we can\'.

You might then get a bit off for being MRC?

I\'ll attach the Breakers List here for you anyway.

If this damage was due to an rta or similar it was on the offside of the vehicle as it\'s the lower link stud which is bent most.
