Hi guys,

Bought my 1992 (J REG) RED FD3S ifini Type R in december 2010, but starting to think i may not have the money to keep it (fuel is pretty expensive!)

Ive fixed most the little things that were wrong (broken fuel flap & broken drivers door handle), and carried out all the maintenance tasks as recommended on here ready for a summer of rotary fun.

Oil Filter change
Powder coated aluminium door handles
Power steering and aircon belts replaced
Fuel filter & spark plugs still to be done but will be done next week.
Fitted MPH converter / delimiter.
Fusion Ipod-CD player to be fitted next week.

The car is fully standard and every single bit of it works if you get what i mean (pop up lights, windows, mirrors, power aerial ect, ect), runs well too. Bit of white smoke on start up (when cold outside) then soon clears to nothing, so normal behaviour as i can tell, doesnt drink any water, and oil doesnt move much either.

Interior plastics are a bit scratched up (common on early examples) and the bodywork does need a little tlc to be perfect ( few small scrapes, and little dings / small spots of laquer peel).

engine was rebuilt at 50k miles in 2000, and has now done approximately 75k miles.

Car cost me £4200 to buy, is completely standard, and ive spent roughly 3 - 400 quid on servicing bits tidying it up etc.

Theres plenty of history in a folder, from import in 1997, the 1 owner from 1997 to december 2010 when i bought the car. Between 1997 - 2010, theres approximately 12 full service receipts from mazda main dealer if this means much to people, and plenty other receipts

How much would you think it would be worth in private sale?

I\'m guessing you already know what you\'d sell for so if you really think it\'s got to go, put it up for that amount and see what happens.

I doubt anyone will chance their hand and put a value on it, to sell these cars you just have to be lucky and find the right person at the right time.

As you\'ve said with the price of fuel \'toys\' are becoming more expensive.

A lot would depend on how it looks in pics, what colour, overall appearance.

Big decision, especially after such a short time of ownership.

Hope you make the right choice and not live to regret selling, if you do.

John
I started with nothing and I have most of it left

Cheers for the reply, below are some pics, obviously the blemishes in the bodywork dont show up, but gues that goes to show its not too bad, but noticeable up close. So difficult to price it as id like to get what i paid for it, but i see other similar cars for 3500 upwards :-(
