Try this for size, this is for the rears

& this is for the fronts

The deal is your buy one and pay for postage on the 1st item only and all other items are free delivery.  So the full price I think is good.
I bought a pair of the rear excels from a local supplier last year when I was fixing JAZ and paid about £80 (which at the time I thought was a pretty good price) but then found these on fleaBay and have kept them in my watch list - you never know when you might need some.
Hope these are useful.

If I was looking to just replace my original worn out dampers with new I\'d be right on that link. Good find Cliff!

After a couple of weeks of lots of work and lots of wet and damp I made a bit of progress today :)

I spent all morning working on he mx5, just day to day maintenance stuff, but then dropped onto Rexanne right after lunch. I then spent all afternoon preparing parts for painting.

Firstly I keyed the underside of the car ready for its second coat of POR15. Then I put the diff back in and cleaned off the rear axel. Here you can see it being acid etched ready for the POR15.

Next up was the brake guards, here they are just wire wheeled back read yto be etched.

Next the tank straps

And finally I made a start on the tank. I was a little more careful to not be too aggressive with the grinder in case of going through the really rusty bits, but touch wood it doesn\'t appear to leak! Its got half a gallon or so left in it, and sloshing it about, turning the tank over etc, I can\'t see any damp patches or smell any petrol :)

I got about three quarters of the way through the tank clean up before deciding enough was enough for today, and the neighbours deserved a break from constant angle grinding noise!

If the weather is nice to me I\'ll be breaking out the POR tomorrow :)

A good afternoons work there Steve :Thumbs-up
Try not turning the tank too much as it\'ll disturb the sediment at bottom of tank.

Have you set a deadline for MOT yet? Can\'t be tooooo far away?:cool:Party

Steve-A

Cliff,I was kinda hoping to flush the tank out to remove any old sediment, so wasn\'t worrying too much, but its a good call not to make extra work I suppose!

I\'ve not set a deadline Tim. I\'d quite like to make it to brooklands though.... It kinda depends when I sell the mx5, Rexanne won\'t be going on the road on the standard suspension and brakes. There\'s also the whole front of the car to worry about yet!

When you take it for the MOT they\'ll think it is a brand new car when they look underneath - the give away will be the registration plate.  Are you hoping to MOT this year?

If the mx5 sells reasonably soon I\'d hope to MOT late spring :)

Excellent news there Steve - good to see they have arrived.  Did you have to pay any additional taxes?

I had to pay £38 of import taxes on them. Worked out, including the shared taxes, to £140 each for Ian and I. So fairly cheap, but it has taken a few weeks to get here.

Nice project! Very thorough!

Where did you order your bushes from? I can\'t find any kits which give you the roll bar link hardware/droplinks like you have... :(

Also, before you por-15\'d the underside, whats that paste you are putting over the seams?

Looking great! Not too far now I bet :)

Steve-A

The bushes are from Re-Speed in the states. :)

The paste is \'seam sealer\'. Its a water and weather proof sealer that will fill any small gaps between panels/welds to weather proof the underside. It dries to kinda feel like pencil eraser! The factory did the car from new, but I wanted to go over all my new welded seams, to make sure no water could find its way in and rot out my new sections of metal from the inside. Whilst I was under there with it, I went over any bits of the original sealer that didn\'t look so good.

There\'s not much more chassis work to do on the rear end, but then I\'ve got the whole front end to do and the shocks and brakes to sort. So there\'s plenty to do!

O sweet, thanks for the info! Didn\'t realise his kits included the hardware lol.

Keep up the good work :)

Steve-A

I didn\'t realise it included the hardware either till it arrived!

I got these back from Bill today. He\'s put far too much effort into making them adjustable so I can work how how much shorter than original I need them to reduce the binding on my lowered suspension.

Once I\'ve worked out what length I need, he and I will make up some new links from scratch.
