DId you do anything about the Turbo in Bromyard? - I notice it has an Elford spoiler......

John

Steve-A

I\'m planning to phone him and ask about the spoiler this morning! Now that Cliff\'s phoned and found out more, the turbo itself isn\'t so interesting to me.

I just had a chat to the guy with the turbo in Bromyard on the phone, he said he\'d been in touch with you John and mentioned someone in Sussex as well had been in touch? dunno if its one of us?

Either way I let him know I was interested in the bumper if he wanted to split it from the car or more likely if the new owner wanted to sell it, etc. I know he said about breaking the car in his eBay add, but I\'d feel guilty if he sold parts to me outside of eBay and let someone else down, who might be bidding just for the bumper and turbo really. The car is literally a couple of miles up the road from me, so he\'s gonna phone me back and I\'m gonna go have a poke around it and see what I can see! I\'ll let you guys know what I find.

Done the seam sealing :) 2nd coat of paint on the next dry day when I\'m free!

I\'m looking forward to getting that done, because then I can put the fuel pump back on and feel like its going back together :)

Not wishing to appear totally stupid, but what the hell, if you don\'t ask you don\'t find out....

What is this seam sealing you have done? If its all been painted what is the point?

Stupid non mechanical John....

Steve-A

Basically it\'s belt and braces. :)

I wanted to get paint on the bare metal, but then the seam sealer will just be belt and braces that there are no points into which water could work its way between the panels or in between some of my lumpier welding in the awkward spots!

Again in a belt and braces fashion I went a bit wild with the seam sealer, and did every seam in sight, even if it looked 100% water tight :P

Once the 2nd coat of paint is on then you wouldn\'t know the seam sealer is there really and I\'ll just know its an extra layer of protection.

Woo the tracking code suggests the bushes have made it to the UK, just waiting on customs to sort their life out and post me a letter demanding money!

Nice, did you order anything else with them? I\'ve never shipped anything in from the US are you likely to be hit with a duties bill or is it pot luck?

Steve-A

I didn\'t order anything else with them. Just two sets of bushes, one for me and one for Ian.

Sooner or later the bushes would have held me up with putting the car back together, where as I\'ve got plenty more to do before the rest of the parts I could possibly order from Re-Speed would be needed.

Everything I\'ve ever bought new from the states has been picked up by customs and I\'ve had to pay the duty. The most annoying thing is when its only a low cost item, so its a £3 duty but on top of that an extra £20 of Parcel Force handling fee!!!!

this is good news... the sooner I get the bushes, the sooner I can get the suspension on the car which I need to do to roll it out of the garage so that I can drop the new engine in!...

Are they coming in through Royal Mail or someone like DHL?

Steve-A

I think they\'ll come by Royal Snail, seeing as they were sent by US Postal Service from Billy\'s end. As soon as they arrive I\'ll let you know Ian. :)

Good to hear they are on terra-firma so to speak - now just red tape to get through before they are delivered.  With a little luck you won\'t have to pay this time (fingers crossed).

Sadly Missed

Steve-A

The tracking says my parcel cleared customs today! Whether that means the post man will bring it tomorrow and I don\'t have to pay or whether it just means it\'s now in the hands of Royal Snail is anyones guess!

Either way while I haven\'t been painting, due to the crummy weather, I have been shopping!

I\'ve got some rubber fuel line, I went for fuel injection spec stuff with is way OTT, but makes things a bit more future proof. I\'ve also got a bunch of proper fuel clips, as whilst the jubilee clips worked fine on my mx7 (even on the turbo system running 110psi fuel pressure!), the little worries in the back of my head like using proper fuel clips. I\'ve also bought enough to go back over and replace all the jubilee clips on the mx7 with proper fuel clips for my peace of mind.

I\'ve got some low profile wheel bolts to use with my PCD adapters and also a pipe cutting and flaring tool in preparation for remaking the brake hardline for the rear axel, and any sections of fuel hard line I might have to make up if I go injection.

I\'ve also been reading lots.

So hopefully I\'m prepared with parts and understanding so that once I get a dry bright day I can make some progress! I\'m working from home for the rest of the week, so if the sun does decide to shine I might steal an hour here to there to carry on painting parts. :)

Parts have cleared customs, soon you\'ll get a note from parcelfarce demanding import duty!
When you say proper fuel line clips,do you mean the P shaped clips with rubber inserts?
