Guys,

Finally got the FD3 on the road for the first time yesterday, was great ! although i did breakdown twice haha. :rollin

Basically the clamp on the positive battery terminal keeps coming loose and looking at the clamp, its seen better days. I want to replace it, but it seems to incorporate the fuse box, anyone got any suggestions on how i should move forward with this?

Can i buy the clamp on its own? or will i need to go to mazda and buy the whole fuse box, clamp ect?

thanks in advance

SiH

It\'s bolted on to the fuse panel IIRC - pull back the insulation :)

Then pop over to //www.vehiclewiringproducts.co.uk, find an appropriate replacement, and voila :)

or if your cheap like me, get a small piece if 15mm copper tube 10mm long, run the hacksaw down the length of it to split it place over the battery terminal and then reuse old clamp, then proceed to go out and thrash the car again.

and thats all we have time for here at blue peter, see you next time :-)

Good call, works and cheap as chips.

Cheers for the suggestions guys, copper pipe mite work, wud rather do a proper repair rather than bodge, but good stuff, thats what i love about these forums!

the trouble is the battery you have now might have just a mm or two smaller terminals or slighty worn due to being overtightened or removed regular, takes ten mins to do and saves a whole load of work changing the clamp.

To be fair, its not a bodge-bodge as Rob has said your battery terminals might be worn and it will save you replacing the battery... also WGT did this on my car a while ago when a battery I used to have had slightly worn terminals. Whats good enough for the goose.... :D
