Quote from: sanbob;742476there is water getting into the boot space had a wuick look but cant see any obvious holes or broken seals there was also water under the back seats but i think thats from before the welding was done.

Hi Rob and welcome and all that.....

If you remove the trim inside the rear edge of the boot you can get access to the drain tube from the groove round the rear hatch. They can often get blocked, or broken which lets water in and if they do get blocked its not uncommon to find rust in the groove round the hatch, I did :( haha.

Still looks good for £400!!! :)

Been on ebay over 6 months Dave, sure you\'ve got the details already.
ta stu..

Ah, Yeh, Pete Markin. (It\'s with you saying York Stu). Pete Markin is breaking that red S3 in Notts/Derby area.

He had a broken side window that he\'d sent out a bit back....broken in transit....and he got me to email our Breakers list to the recipient, for him to choose another one. I didn\'t mind. All good fun.

Reminds me....Rob attached here is our regular 1st Gens breaking list. You might want to download a copy?

i\'ll sort out the cosmetic/ paintwork bits when iv sorted the problems out seat belts first then the less needed bits like the windows/ mirror then ill look into either changing the doors or sorting the rust out.

had a look underneath and all looks pretty solid had a good poke around with the old aggresive adjuster/tappy stick lol and didnt go through anywhere (phew) iv done that before not a good feeling hehe the rear sillls/floor had been welded for its mot so 1 less thing to worry about dont trust the origional jacking points though:confused:.

cheers steve ill strip out the boot and have a good clean out around the drain holes no rust around the hatch though which is good, the car has been off the road for 5 years but has been stored well (i have an mr2 thats been sat less time and allsorts of bits have seized or stopped workin lol)

could do with replacing the sunroof as it has a fair bit of rust on one side but thats for l8r lol, just a case of gettin time as i work close to 60 hours a week most weeks even working this weekend in Edinborough nice hehe so its gonna drive me mad the next couple of weeks lol having the car on the drive and no time to play hehe plus the name is driving me loopy never had a problem before as they have all been colour coded names but unsure of the colour to choose thinkin midnight blue although the red is growing on me:wave

cheers guys, Rob
