Clive and I think it would be fantastic if we could fill a 20 car, 15 minute, trackday session at Japfest this year. Cost for the session (per car) would be £20 to Full MRC (paid up) members, a reduction on the Japfest published price of £35. Non MRC Members can still go out, but the cost will be £30. Tickets will be available form the Club Shop later.

We think it would be great to have a 15 minute session exclusive to rotary powered cars to show off to the huge crowds that go along to Japfest each year. Trackday times and details haven’t been released yet by the Japfest organisers, but I will post up details as soon as they become available. These tracktime slots have been immensely popular in previous years, so we need to be prepared to book a slot very quickly when details are announced.

Please add your name to the list and use this thread if you have any questions.

So, who is up for a 15 minute blast at Japfest?

Good news Dave, and everyone else, on the price, but this needs YOUR support!! Clive and I have been discussing this and have agreed that the MRC will block book AN ENTIRE session exclusively for rotaries. If we get 20 cars then the costing will be as follows;
£35 quoted cost on the Japfest website, reduced to;
£30 because the MRC is going to pay "up front", reduced to;
£20 because the MRC will contribute £10 towards the cost! (FULLY PAID UP MRC MEMBERS ONLY)
I have been speaking to the Japfest organisers directly and am awaiting the release of the track session booking forms. These were due today (Fri, 7th Jan) but have not materialised. As soon as they are available I\'ll be booking our exclusive session. Payment for your place will be via the club shop in due course.

So, who\'s up a track session in front of all the crowd at Japfest for just £20, can\'t say fairer that that!

Tracktime booking form still not available from the Japfest organisers, but tracktime schedule has just been posted up today;

Session   Time   Level
C   09:36   Novice
D   09:54   Intermediate
F   10:30   Novice
J   11:42   Advanced
L   12:18   Intermediate
P   13:30   Advanced
R           14:06   Intermediate
S   14:24   Novice
V   15:18   Intermediate
W   15:36   Advanced
Y   16:12   Novice

Bearing in mind people might be arriving late for one reason or another, and we may have a mix of drivers with different experience I would propose we go with 12.18 (inter) or 14.06 (inter). To some extent, if we get the planned exclusive session, then I\'m not expecting the experience levels to be an issue, as we\'ll be aware of all the other people being on track to be of mixed experience and can take account of that (ie play nice!).

If anyone has any other views then please post up quick as I\'m expecting the booking forms to be issued very soon.

I\'ve had a quick sneak on other Jap Forums and just about ALL of them are waiting for the forms to book one, or even two, exclusive club tracktime sessions, so I\'m keeping a close watch to get in as quickly as I can! If anyone else spots anythign before I do then please PM me.

I\'ll post up here as soon as I have the booking form :D

Hmm... Does a "track session" constitute a "track day" (from which I am technically banned by Wifey)...  I\'d love to, but think I\'d better not... :Nono! especially as there\'ll be a certain 5YO who\'s bound to tell Mummy! :3gears-lh

:D It depends if your latest RX-8 is fitted with an "armco-magnet" - the last one appeared to have one :D

Strictly speaking, the Japfest description is "track time". However, I\'d certainly recommend you clear it with Siobhan before you contemplate subterfuge! And yes, I\'m sure Joseph will rat on you, even if bribed with an ice-cream :Laugh

***URGENT***

OK, all of a sudden, the idea of tracktime at Japfest has gained a lot of interest, and is causing a slight dilemma for the MRC.

The original plan was for a "Rotary only" exlusive session, and I was quite confident we could fill the 20 places from members here and across on the RX8OC. However, the RX8OC have decided to book an exclusive RX-8 session, and offer it FREE to RX8OC members. That session is already fully allocated, but has "drained" away some people from the planned "All Rotary" session I had originally envisaged.

Some people, who are members of both the MRC and RX8OC (like me) will most likely go on both sessions, but there are some people (mostly the first timers) who have indicated they will only go on the RX8OC session. We may therefore now be short on numbers to fill a 2nd 20 slot session.

As the MRC has to pay a lump sum "up front" (IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS) to secure exclusive tracktime we need to ensure there will be sufficient takers.

I\'ve updated the list, removing the names of those on the free RX8OC session who have not (yet) indicated if they will do the "All Rotary" session.

WOULD ANYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO JOIN IN THIS EXCLUSIVE SESSION PLEASE POST UP IN THIS THREAD ASAP.

If we don\'t get sufficient support by the time we have to pay Japfest we may have to wait for more take-up. Knowing how popular Japfest tracktime has been in previous years, this might jeopardise securing an exclusive session.

Many thanks for your support Clarky.

I\'ve added your name to the list above. Don\'t worry if you are a novice, they\'ll be a full briefing and we\'ll look after you on the day! Just make sure you don\'t fall foul of the 100dB noise limit, as they are quite strict at Combe!

Casey
Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself...
But i can always do with some help now due to, my advancing years!

Casey

BUMP! We still need more people to make this work.

If anyone reading this is active on other Rotary forums, then please promote this elsewhere. I\'ve emailed Mark Nash over at FDUK, but if anyone else is active on FDUK, then please feel free to post up this proposal over there.

This is NOT an MRC-only event, but an attempt to "showcase" Rotary Power through an EXCLUSIVE tracktime session at a premier event, in front of huge crowds, thousands of cameras and Jap Mag journalists.......

C\'mon, there must be more people who\'d like to do this at a ridiculously cheap cost!
