Hello all.
So i started my FD for the first time since the snow yesterday. The car died after i first started it, though on the second time it was fine, the car then proceeded to warm up etc.

Over the entire time the car was running there was a buzzer going off, just a constant noise. Oil is fine, water is fine and there were no troubles with the engine, no lights on the dash other than the low fuel light (I assume theres no buzzer for this?)

Additionaly there was some smoke coming from the screamer pipe, this was after the car was warm, the rest of the exhuast wasn\'t smoking. This isnt normal is it? Also worth mentioning i can hear noise from the screamer on idle which shouldn\'t happen should it?

Anyone have any ideas on wehat could be causing this? seems slightly weird.

Cheers
James

Errrr, could well be the low coolant light. Stop driving until you\'ve ascertained if it is. Where did you check the level.
No, coolant smoke out the exhaust (or screamer) isn\'t normal. What colour was it?
Almost sounds like you\'re burning coolant...

I checked the overflow, There was no light, only one for the fuel.

It was white smoke fromt eh screamer, not a lot, but it was definately coming out, there was absolutely none coming from the rest of the exhaust though.

Wasn\'t even driving it, the car is off the road, i just run it every few weeks to keep things circulating.

I can\'t see how it would be burning coolant, surely this should be coming out of the exhaust and not the screamer.

Also the water temp rised up to 86-87 and stayed there (like it usually does)

baffles me.

I\'ll have another look this weekend. thanks for the help!

The screamer is part of the exhaust dude. It sounds like you have a leaking wastegate that\'s venting on idle. Could just be condensation build up burning off in it though.
I\'d be popping the top off the filler neck and checking the coolant level in there.

yea i get that but theres as much, if not more exhaust gas coming out of the actual exhuast so if its coming from both and   is leaking, there should also be a bit of smoke from the main exhaust surely?

The main exhaust did smoke a bit on start up, but after a minute or two there was literally nothing.

You\'re right, i need a propper look at the coolant. Are there buzzers for anything other than oil and coolant do you know?

Im sure I\'ve read on here recently about FD\'s or at least some FD\'s having a buzzer for the alarm/imobalizer. Think it was located around the ash tray area iirc. I\'ll see if I can find hte thread (fingers crossed the search function will actually work!).
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Is this a factory option? I\'m pretty sure I don\'t have an alarm or imobilizer, actually on the list of things to do.

Saying that, I can\'t remember if it was buzzing before i started the engine or not. There are usually various beeps and things when i connect the battery due to turbo timers and what not.

If only it wasnt pitch black when i got home from work!!

I can\'t seem to find the thread. From what I remember some had it others didn\'t. I can\'t even remember what it was exactly, but someone had the buzzer going off and couldn\'t stop it. In the end they cut it out I think!
