Hey guys,

I\'ve been thinking about buying and Rx7 for a while now, but am still torn between getting one or taking an easier option of getting a Supra of R33 GTR (both of which are more expensive and not as exclusive) However my heart lies with the Rx7, so i guess i\'m just looking for some convincing!!

Also, i have never sat in one of them, i\'m 6"1 and am just wondering about head and leg room, anyone roughly the same size or bigger who could help me out??

Your comments would be appreciated.

Biased views you will get from here... ;)

They are all great cars in their own way.

The Supra is a heavy weight version of the 7, almost as quick, easier to tune for big power, just as cramped for big fellas.

The skybus, sorry skyline(r) again very heavy, just as quick, lot more expensive to tune, but plenty of room for big fellas.

The 7 is a lite weight, quick, cramped :D car.

We have numerous people over 6 feet driving them without problems.

Sir yes Sir, Thanx guys

Any ideas where best to buy one from??

Brett

In the rotary vendors section of the forum are some decent suppliers.
I\'d advice reading the sticky\'s at the top of this section.

Lastly, buy with your brain, not your heart.

 Have fun! :wave

6\'5" (inc heels) and 15 stone and I find it just the right height.  You may find access to 5th gear a little limiting, but the best approach is to test drive one, and see how you get on.

At least if you\'re wedged in, in the event of an accident, you won\'t go anywhere... *grin*

Hearts saying - Get one you fool, there gorgeous and quick, wat else do you want

Brain saying - Keeping the engine in good working order, week engine, etc.

This is my dilema, i want one but scared of something going wrong, are they as temperamental as there made out to be??

Brett

Basically it depends on what you buy!

If you go for a car with no/very few mods and less than 40,000 miles on the clock, with evidence that its been looked after then you should get another 20k without hassle.
However if you go for a car with 55k on the clock, loads of bolt-ons and a slightly shabby look then you could be looking at lots of grief.

Basically if its done less than 40-45k chances are it wont have had a rebuild but will need one around 55-60k (miles).  If its a car you use for fun and not day to day, maintain it well and dont thrash it form cold then turn off hot, it should last you a few years without costing you too much £££.

As for maintainence, if your mechanically minded then there is nothing particularly duanting.  make sure you cheeck the oil and water EVERY day, on level ground.  The engine is meant to use oil, so budget for this in your running costs.  Oil and filter should be changed every 3000miles RELIGIOUSLY.
Ensure air filter is clean too, a lot of performance and MPG can go out the window if its clogged/old.
Change the fuel filter every 15k, some people do it once a year if they dont cover 15k.

Dont spend more than £5500 on a car thats got lots of miles on the origional engine.

It will be a "weekend car", so i guess i should be ok going by your advice.

Thanx alot Brett  :wave , i know you guys prob get bugged with this all the time.

Brett

No worries, wouldnt want anybody to end up buying a turd!

There are a few people on this forum from Aberdeen, Have a quick search through.  If you get in contact with them I bet they\'d be more than willing to show off their toys so you can get a better idea of what you want. :)

i\'m also 6\'1 & was a bit put off by this when i first went for a test drive as my knees are more round the steering wheel than previous cars but am use to it now & should be even better when i shortly get the seat rails put sklightly further back (like on the UK cars) but really not an issue although i digress i do look a tit trying to get out the car in the garage but the rest of the time everyone will tell you i look cool :cool really they will wont you guys, GUYS GUYS?  pmsl
I did look at soops & liners also before going with FD as among other reasons the other 2 are stupidly big & even fitting those buggers in the garage would be an issue & well the 7\'s performance & looks are total droolworthy :god
Enjoy & dont be shy to ask away....

Get one! We need more FD\'s in Scotland! :D

Shark

get out there, sort out a ride/drive in one, then buy it! :D :D

You shouldn\'t find space problems as I\'m the same height and it\'s all good.
