My repairer was a Triumph Body Resorer and he re-used those plates where you drilled out the spot welds Steve. I wasn\'t there but I think he welded in new 10 gauge flat metal plates, reusing the folded lips of the original. Would gas welding be right for that operation rather than MIG?

Pretty sure that odd hanger is just that - a tow hook if you want to use it.

I was planning to do similar. Weld in new thin sheet metal to replace whats rusted away from the layre that forms the bottom of the rear seats. Re-use the outer edge of the plate I cut off, keeping the lip, and replace the centre with fresh metal. Then use the drilled holes as entry points to weld all the plates together (may do some extra stitching where possible too). Should look like it was never rusty :P

I\'m using a proper gassed MIG, so it should be well upto the job :)

Good job there today mate and well done braving those topical conditions - looks as though the snow had melted overnight.
Having disposed of the rusty bits it looks quite any easy job now.

That extra hanger - hmmmm me, I wouldn\'t subject it to any load(s) as there is no reinforcement to take any stresses.  Wouldn\'t have a clue what is was fitted for.

Probably just for strops on the boat over back in \'83.

Yeh... have to agree with you now Tim, Cliff. Doesn\'t appear to be anything solid behind that bracket. I\'ve washed that panel a thousand times on the outside, never thought much about that hanger.

Thanks for input on the hanger. I shan\'t bother trying to take it off the, just brush the rust back and paint over it!

As long as it doesn\'t fall through, I should be going to pick these up at the weekend :D

They aren\'t the totally wild sizes and offsets I\'d dreamed off, but they are super cool original jap designs :) 15x7 +25 SSR mk2 and 15x6.5 +6 SSR longchamps

They are 4x114, so I\'ll be buying a set of hubcentric spacers/PCD adapters from DM Motorsport, advertiser on here.

With the 20mm depth of the PCD adapter they should fit in the standard arches just nicely. The arches may just need a subtle arch roll :)

So for now I\'ll be looking to make the stock arches look good again.

Think I prefer the second pair but .... you are collecting a set of 4 I take it?  Or are you planning to have a different pair per axle?

I will be collecting the 4 wheels pictured. 1 pair of each design, so different designs front to rear. :)

The mismatched pairs is a look I\'m quite fond of. I suppose its a kinda drift car inspired look, as much of the overall look will be.

Each to their own mate - I\'m all fore individuality. So which pair to which axle?

Not 100% sure yet, but I think the 6 spokes up front as they are fractionally narrower. :)

After last nights grinding pictures, I had the bit between my teeth this morning and I was keen to get on. This was the scene as I started work this morning....

Todays task was to carry on with the upper suspension link welding. First up I had to pull some more interior so any stray sparks don\'t damage the carpet/seats.

I found some water under the passengers seat, hopefully it came in before I sealed up the hatch properly, gonna keep an eye on it. Only other spot I could imagine it coming from would be sunroof seal, but thats looks like its sealing well to me.

So I cut out a panel to replace the side of the rear seat bucket.

And welded it in.

Its in and solid, but not as pretty as I\'d hopped. I blew a couple of holes and had to try and cover that, and also the panel isn\'t quite as flat as I\'d hopped from when I shaped it.

I welded all the seams, which is more points that the car originally had but seemed a sensible idea to me.

Next time I\'m out there I\'ll be making up the side plate and welding that on too. :)

Tomorrow I\'m off to London to go pick up those wheels! :D:D:D:D

Coming on well Steve - told you it wasn\'t that difficult.
Just be careful of those stray sparks on the windows too!

8 Hours of driving and ~ 400 miles later I\'ve got the wheels :D

No point posting pictures now, but I\'ll be mocking them up on the car tomorrow, so I can work out what size adapters to order and will take a picture then!
