Rear crankshaft oil seal must have failed clutch slipping badly and oil loss. Now i see a brand new clutch on ebay for a 12a.  Here\'s  the question are they the same i.e. 12a and 13b, Also does any body know the spline size i.e. 1 inch 23 spline as would be on a ford as i have a  paddle clutch  knocking about from my rallying days info would be greatly appreciated gary  .

Can\'t tell you anything about the 13B gary but be careful mate. We know for example that the Series 2 12A clutch is 215mm diameter, whereas the Series 3 12A clutch is 225mm diameter.

So I would have thought you will have to be armed with at least the diameter information and the spline size before you buy.

I think an early 13b clutch is the same as a late 12a

Little bit more material on the pressure plate side lining. 0.6mm, does that matter?

The clutch is a new unit can the oil be removed dry up or cleaned some how

CHC (RIP)

If the clutch plate is contaminated with oil it is not recommended to re-use that item - you need to buy new I\'m afraid.

Trico-ethylene will clean it up but dont know if its still available cos it can kill you !!!

David Nock (RIP)

Yeh, you might be able to clean it up with Trico Gary but it\'s such buggeration to get the plate in and out that I suspect it\'s too much risk - in case it starts to judder? Best have new for the peace of mind.
