Hi, my battery box is missing, so even one with a few extra holes would be ok ?

Just thought you might like to see what can happen on a standing mile. This is from this years Texas mile where last year a LS fd rcorded a 196ish mph.

You can never spend to little on safety.

i\'d buy robs cage if i were you, best bolt-in on the market and has a proper harness bar :)

I\'m not seeing anything in here about uprated brakes, do you not need to get it stopped pretty quickly at the end of the straight?
Can only imagine the standard stoppers will struggle with the heat build up from a rapid scrub off from 200mph.
Interesting thread by the way :)

When is this 200mph run happening again? next summer?>

had a look at it and its not gonna be any good as it wont let the seat go far enough back, plus if i was gonna go through the hassle of a cage, id be doing a proper one that braces to the tunnel and front strut tops

you will be suprised actually, originally my thoughts were that a big set of stoppers were required but it turns out thats not true.

rods 210mph runs 330mm fourpots and weighs around 1500kg, after cracking a few discs after the hard braking he contacted AP Racing to ask for advise, the actually cause was the massive instant change in temperature caused by having brake ducts installed.

AP racing suggested to remove the brake ducts and they had no problems after that.

so 210mph+ 1500kg braking is less stress than 200mph 1100kg braking and both vehicles run 4 pots.

So the only change i will make is putting new better grade front pads on as ive got better discs on already.

well ill be getting new wheels and tyres before xmas, then my turbokit should be done for feburary, so id like to get it done on my birthday which is 17th of april as that gives me time to get it mapped by ross on racegas

This is my favourite thread hope all goes well I really want to be there when you do it so keep up the good cheers den

Sorry, must have missed info on ron and his 210mph runs.
What car is that (am guessing skyline with that weight) and are we talking standard fit or AP 330mm brakes - two very different things?
Was he doing top speed runs like you & having to brake in the same distance as you will? Did he also have uprated rears?
Not trying to come up with arguments, just highlighting some of the many factors to consider. You don\'t want to be finding out its all unstable / won\'t slow down quick enough on the day eh

What distance have you got to stop in?

Out of interest, how are you planning on getting the rex down to 1100kgs? I\'m guessing perspex windows, frp hatch, custom tank, full interior strip, light wheels etc would be needed to get it down that low.
I\'ve got 70kgs off mine so far and reckon 100kgs is the limit whilst keeping it as a daily driver - i.e. keeping interior trim, normal glass & panels etc.

rod owns a ford sierra sapphire cosworth, runs a gt42 turbo and nos, makes 838bhp off gas and around 1000bhp with.

his car has full cage, leather, stereo, sound deadening, big bottle of nos, big bottle of N2(for his push system) massive turbo, cooler etc

hes already done 210mph at bruntingthorpe, hoping to hit 215mph this time around.

they are 330mm AP brakes, standard rears i believe, i do believe the stock brakes on an rx7 are more than up to the job, im sure someone mentioned the rx7 held the record at one point for most g decelaration for a production car,put the car on a trackday and i think they would go off after a couple of laps mind.

He has to brake in the same distance.

the straight is 2miles long, most cars will be on full throttle for 1.6miles of it, before the heavy braking at the end.

unfortunately its not really something you can do alot of testing, ive done some very heavy braking from 160mph down to 40mph and the car felt fine, didnt squirm and that was brake pedal nearly through the bulkhead!

the good thing about bruntingthorpe airfield is that its pretty wide and open with a very gripping surface to help braking.

the actual braking distance is purely down to me, if i do a run and hit 195mph and im braking really early ill just move the braking marker further down the straight.

I know your not trying to argue, infact i like when people question things and discuss it, some people just assume ill do it, some assume ill never do it, its the people on the middle ground that i like talking to.

well my car weighs 1150kg at the moment, which im my opinion is still a bit of a lard monster, heres a rundown.

airpump gone
frp bonnet
rats nest and random nuts and bolts gone
big intercooler and rad(+10kg)
removed ast
decat straight pipe saved 15kg id say
bumper support gone
carbon seats saves 20kg
racing battery in the boot saves 11kg
no spare wheel or tools.

the car is a full road car no need to get perspex windows at all.

im keeping all my stereo, full interior trim, sound deadening and normal glass, my wheels im buying december are the same weight as my old bbs 17s but are much wider and the difference in weight between tyres is actually nothing(give or take half a kg between a full set)

ill save 10kg by removing power steering, 5kg by removing rear bumper bar, 3kg by swapping wood to carbon for my splitter, 2-3kg removing rear wiper, motor and bottle, thats over 20kg right there which takes me down to 1130kg so not far off

i might in the future go to frp boot and wings, this will drop me below 1100kg, im keeping my normal doors and etc windows
