Oh, Dave, just to answer your last paragraph mate ?

All I wanted was a little respect mate, from what I thought was a grown up place ? Not much to ask is it ?

Don.

I dont think I will pursue this any further, I will not make any further mention of selling the car through the Forum, I will not offer or sell to any forum members.
Should I decide to sell the car, it will go on ebay, and if anyone wants it they can buy it through those channels.  thats probably best. My apologies to anyone who has been offended by my honesty, we are not all rougues and crooks, but you have obviously seen a few on here I guess.

The car is no longer for sale.
End of.
Don

cyman

i have read  this thread and to be honest im not surprised at the response.

everyone that uses this forum are rotary enthusiasts and all had a smile on there face at the thought of a really nice 1st gen surfacing and at the thought of a genuine owner comming along to drive and enjoy it. you cant honestly expect people to welcome you with open arms whilst you are just using the car to turn a nice profit and then add in your brashness in dealing with peoples reactions to you, what do you honestly expect!!

on that note the car is yours to do with as you please and putting it on ebay is the smartest thing you could of done than try to push it on here

Rotary Enthusiasts? yes of course you all are, I respect this, never questioned it, never would !
Yes, I should honestly expect a welcome with open arms, why shouldnt anyone ?
But oh, how petty are the changes in some peoples attitude when they realise that the person they welcomed may turn a profit on a beloved RX7, You tell me, is that a decent way to behave, kind of false if you ask me, and reeks of jealousy.

HERES A TEST FOR YOU ALL, (Like it or not),
Will anyone on this Forum stand up and be counted by recognising that a welcome handshake to a new member, (who incidentally put his hand in his pocket to pay his membership dues) which is then retracted, simply because that new member dare mention he might sell his new toy, and heaven forbid make a profit, you tell me, is that a real welcome of a false one.
Because I tell you what folks, if this Forums is so shallow that no one can agree with me, then its not a place I wish to belong to.

So, stand up and be counted .

Nik da Greek

I\'ll be counted, then. I generally offer a welcome to all new members if I can, though I must have missed your post when you joined, and that welcome is sincere because I feel that anyone joining a car club must be a genuine enthusiast for the marque and therefore to be encouraged, and because rules of simple politeness dictate a friendly reception.

If, however, that person then started waxing lyrical about how much fun they get out of drinking a quarter of scotch and then driving home from the golf course, or how they get off on child pornography, or how they feel the only way to treat their wife is to beat her twice a day whether she needs it or not, I would pretty quickly revise my opinion of them sharply downwards. Neither would I feel this redolent of any insincerity on my behalf, because the person in question has to take responsibilty for their own behaviour being socially reprehensible.

In the rather less extreme case of someone trying to get a mark up of almost 100% on a car that isn\'t even in their posession, then at the least I would be thinking "well, that\'a a plsstake". If the car had been bought, had all the faults rectified and it made condition A-one then this would seem all fine and dandy and fair reward for effort involved. However, expecting to recieve top dollar on a car having posted only a day before about how cheap it is and how all you\'ve done is drag it out from under its previous owner seems extremely mercenary and in very poor taste.

As to whether this is a place you wish to belong to or not, well frankly who gives a 4x? Do what you like. I expect you\'ve alienated a significant enough percentage of your fellow 1st gen owners that your stay here is now a matter of complete indifference to most. In short, don\'t act like a mercenary, then shout in people\'s faces when they criticise you for your unlikeable behaviour, and then expect anyone to care if you live, die or disappear

I would just like to make it plain that this is a purely personal viewpoint and in no way intended to represent any other person, or indeed the club itself. You should probably try to be aware of the distinction between people making a purely personal and legitimate value judgement and an attitude pertaining to the club as an entity

myatt1972

You just dont see it do you Don, its nothing to do with "our beloved cars" its about biting the hand that feeds.
I hope you are a man of your word and you bugger off as fast as you came cos Ive certainly had enough of you.
Keith...

Sorry mods.

cyman

hmmm the only thing i wonder is why do you feel the need for everyone on the forum to approve of what you are doing and why do you take offence when people dont.

and the way you have been trying to sell and basicly try to auction your car through the forum isnt exactley someone thinking of maybe selling it is blatently someone out to make a profit out of the very thing this forum is set up for people to enthuse about

maybe you can find a self help forum who can aplaud you for being such a swell guy and making a profit so easily on the car you just bought then maybe you can stop trying to get justification for your actions here

TiddlesRX7

Im not gonna get into the back ground of this (although though I have read both the threads mentioned above). I just don\'t get why you haven\'t put it on Ebay with a reserve of X amount and said if it makes it it can go, if not im gonna stay on here and pick your brains guys.
Just my 2p worth Don.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

What a hostile place this has turned out to be.
False welcomes mean little.

No wonder the rules were beefed up by the mods with you lot running the forums.

Good old fashioned car clubs were never like this, maybe its because you met face to face in the pub at a noggin and natter, and rsoles felt out of place.

TiddlesRX7

It is a shame really as in the 4 years I\'ve been on here I don\'t think I have seen anyone thats been made to feel unwelcome. Infact most people say this club/forum is better than most other ones they are or have been involved with.

Well, you know whats coming Tiddles, they will tell you all about the welcome I received, which I have to tell you was nice, its how they turned when they realised I might sell my purchase, here on the forum. (SHOCK HORROR)
The mood changed you might say, now I am being advised to bugger off, by the very same people.

I have to say though, that I have had some nice PMs, so its not all bad. :D

Thanks for your input.
Don.

I think its more the way you have gone about it TBH. In every walk of life people will have disagreements and I can see this argument from both sides. At the end of the day it is (or soon will be) your car to do with as you please. Personally I think if you hadn\'t posted that you\'d bought the car for a steal of a price I don\'t think it would have blown up like this. Which ever way you go with TMX I hope she get the little bit of TLC she needs to bring her back to her best.
