hello, got a 92fd single turbo, on the way back from pod yesterday put my foot down made a sort of spluttering noise little bit of black smoke, pulled over all seems to be fine though the idle is poo and boost seems a bit stuttery on the guage, still boosts and seems to run better at higher revs gonna change the plugs tomoro any ideas to what it could be?

any info would be helpful
cheers pete

Hi Peter it\'s Jamie With the black fd White bonnet, I wud try servicing it, n maybe ask the guy that u bought it from when he last changed the fuel filter incase that\'s old n clogged

DR SCHNITZEL

1st thing comp test it. you may save the cost of a rotor and housing if a tip has chipped but not broken off

Jit

^^ you what? U mean it may have chipped but is hanging on for dear life? I don\'t think so! Sounds like it\'s done a tip alright...

really done a tip :( i hope not, wen i bought the car (although theres no proof) it had mid 8s on the comp test and a new engine that had done around 3k on it, is it still poss to kill a tip that quick only ran.9 bar boost at most. its my first rex please dont say ive killed her all ready :Grrr

Unfortunately it does sound like it. I had a tip go shortly after running in a new engine. Best off trying to get somebody who knows what there doing to check it out for you

Welcome to the rotary world...Any problem with the engine,,,everyone would suggest "Check the Tip" or compression...Dont worry she will be fine.... I seriously hope that its not a tip,,,but normally what you said does suggest the worst!!! But we all are presuming..contact Jason at Super7 or Pip at WGT...both of them are rotary gurus..

Does sounds like its thrown a tip which utterly sucks. Hope its something less major id start with plugs\\leads and coil packs but if it runs fine at high revs odds are it wont be plugs more so the leads are poor.

Hey pete get a compression test done. If in doubt an all. Think clive posted a guide how to doing it with a gauge. However i would recommend using a mazda tool if you can wait/find someone.

Yeah only going on an experience i had where my engine run lumpy.  tip had chipped/cracked a bit had fallen off. I drove it another 30 miles and it went properly taking out the rotor and housing in a big way. if id have sorted it earlier maybe the rotor and housing coudl have been salvaged.

your right tho it sounds like its gone tubby bye bye.

check the comp tho.:Thumbs-up

well after doing a comp test and a "chuff" test sad to say good bye to my money and rebuild the engine, weres best to get uprated bits for my engine?

If I was you, I would buy OME Apex Seals. I have seen cars pushing some big power with those seals. Don\'t buy uprated Apex or Side seals. In my opinion you would waste your money...when it comes to detonation literally every seal let go...someone would suggest Aviation (Black Seals) and someone would suggest Ceramic Seals...but believe me you are better off with Mazda OME Apex Seals, corner Seals and side seals..they are cheap and reliable as other uprated seals...

Pete where do you live???
Hope the information helps
