Thought this would be a good free upgrade as it has the two things I want most, Free Sat-Nav and a 12mgp Camera.

However they didn\'t mention how poor the battery life is.

Been checking the Nokia forums and I\'m not the only one not satisfied.

Did a test, 15hr charge - switched it on at 8am today [made sure all apps etc were off] I made two short calls and it died at 5pm.

That\'s 9hrs life with two calls made - not good enough is it.

Having signed a contract anyone know how I stand taking it back.

I need to look at the advertising blurb to see what they claim for battery standby etc

i second that one i got burnt before thinking other manufactures could reproduce the iphone i was wrong and they are all .... aprt from the only one iphone itself ill never go back

johnf

OK but be fair - the iPhone can\'t match the camera on the Nokia and that is very important to me

Although it may go back.............................................

Isnt there always a 30 day cooling off period ?
So if your not happy with the contract you can cancel ?

is the wifi & bluetooth turn off?
if you dont need data (internet etc) then i\'d suggest turning it to run on 2g also. Doubled the battery life of most my other phones that i do not use data.

other than that, i\'m very shocked it does not even last a day.
where did you get it from? a shop or online?
worth checking if you can exchange it.

dont let the 12MP camera fool you. some 5MP camera\'s are very good too. plus if you do not need at a large size you can always resize the pic to produce a better image.

if you want a camera buy a camera not a phone

The iPhone 4 camera is quite good - much better than the old iPhone.

I had exactly the same problem with my last Nokia - so I took the plunge and after having over a dozen Nokia\'s over the past few years I went for an iPhone. It\'s fab - wish I\'d done it before. Except I haven\'t got an iPhone 4 yet and the screen and camera are so much better so I\'ll definately get one when my contract is up next year.

Give it a few cycles John, I have an N97 mini that was crap in terms of battery life - after a few days of use and the latest software update, its become very, very good.

I have a 3Gs for work, and the N97 as a personal mobile... as a phone the N97 is great - not as much fun as the iPhone though.

The N95 had shocking battery life, my N86 8MP is also quite bad on batteries, but the Carl Zeiss Lens and excellent resolution on the cameras are WAY ahead of the competition. I am torn between an N8 and an iPhone for my upgrade in December, I\'ll prob go for the N8 (don\'t want to increase my monthly contract to get a free iPhone 4), since I got my first N Series, I\'ve always had a charger in the car and it sits on charge as I commute in and out of work, seems to keep the battery charged ok.

I much prefer to carry one thing around with me - to follow your thinking I\'d need to buy a sat nav as well that\'s three things to loose.

I like the concept of all three in one unit.

i Vote the Iphone 4.
The tomtom satnav is flawless and its taken me everywhere with no probs, there are also many satnavs apps that are free, including skobbler.
The camera although not the highest of resolutions is very good, the quality when expanded to the full size a 21inch screen is still superb.
I currently have a Iphone 4 32gig and i use it for all my personal and business contacts, there is also an app to take a photo of business cards so that you can scroll through them.
Very usfull phone for business use.

I usually find that the camera\'s on phones only work well with things that are stationary, any movement and the image is blurred.

My N95 was terrible for pictures i thought, unless stationary object to photograph. The new Xperia is the same, great pics if still but blurred if there is any movement :2eek

I find its increasingly difficult to actually get a nice small phone without all these gadgets imho getting in the way!

I had a recent conversation with orange about an upgrade which went,

what phone are you interested in,  i am not sure i havent checked whats available

what do you use your phone for, making phone calls

what do you take pictures with, my camera

what do you browse the internet on, my computer

what do you store your music on, my ipod

so what do you use your phone for, MAKING PHONE CALLS

Oh, we dont really do any "phones" like that!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nokia lost it a few years ago imho, from what was the most sleek, easy to use phones etc! I switched to Samsung and never looked back!
