Hi Guys,

Has anyone had to ever change their front ABS sensors and cabling? I think one of mine has a bad connection, but am unsure which one. It happened after I changed my front struts and accidently stretched the ABS cables during the process:(

If so, is it a difficult job??? I\'ve tried in the past to remove the sensors from the hub, but they seemed to be stuck fast although to fair I didn\'t try that hard. And how can I tell which lead is the faulty one?. I know there is a problem as every so often the abs warning light comes on after going over a bump and then it stays on after that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers, Paul:)

Guess these things don\'t wrong too often then?????

So no one knows how to check the sytem to see which sensor is as fault??????

Please tell me, please, please, pretty please......

No idea.  My ABS light is always on as Ive pulled out the ABS fuse.  I found it loads better so just left the fuse in my wallet :p

If its for an MOT then you can always remove the bulb...;)

Mine does a similar thing although it seems to be more determined on what mood its in as oppossed to hitting bumps...

you have to be carefull when working around the ABS sensors, even tapping the upright with a hammer to knock a bolt out or align somthing can damage the fine coils inside them. if they are anything like the sensors on the rear of an FD they should just unbolt and pull out. if they are anything like the sensors on the TII on some other Mazda\'s they can be nearly impossible to remove !

CHeers for the replies, you\'re right mike the rear ones just slide out easily enough. However the front ones are a lot more tricky as they get stuck in the hub. The US forum simply suggests patience, a drowning in WD40 and gently twist it side to side while pulling on it. It seems to be a common problem as many people try changing the struts without taking the sensors out, then resultantly stretch them and knacker the sensor. Apparantly I can take them out and check the resistance across it to determine which one is knackered. Just have to get them out first:rolleyes:

Here\'s the link to some of the ABS thread on the US forum incase anyone may need it:

Thanks, Paul:)

Nope, as in each, meaning each one individually. So yep it would be well over £500 for a set of 4:(

Think I\'ll be giving Tim a call, Paul ;)

Paul,
The connector plugs are in the engine bay between the strut tower and the bulkhead. The passenger one is under the abs sensor.  The wires come into the bay through the middle of the tunnel,  Try unplugging one and then see if the problems changes. If it doesnt then it may be that one.  I recently took the front sensors out of a friends and they were tight but very gentle persuasion moved it.
Good luck

400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!
