Quote from: Ian65;7216911st gen RX7\'s are unusual in that they didn\'t lose the original feel or look as they went through the various revisions.
Looking at Datsun Z cars, the 240z was the original ( and probably the purest and best) and then lost a bit of that with the 260z. By the time the 280 came out it was a world away and so it\'s the 240\'s that command the top money.
Same with E-types, s1 cars fetch mad money whereas the later V12 2+2 can be picked up reasonably cheaply by comparison.
This isn\'t the case with 1st gen RX7\'s and I don\'t believe there\'s any merit in seeking out an older car.
As Dave says, there are subtle revisions / improvements to the S3 but nothing to make a world of difference and I\'d happily buy any of the 3 variants  if the condition and price was right.
It\'s all about condition with these cars, not age.

Thats interesting Dave, and unusual, although having had two and a half glasses of Red now, i cant be arsed to think of a comparative classic.
I wish the owner would hurry up and get back to me with some details, you cant rush them, in case the get cheesed off. The owner already thinks Im nuts, to them its a second hand/old car, and if you look to eager  !! they either get fed up, or the price goes up.

Series 1 , I dont think it is one of those, I reckon S2.
Hey you guys are gonna fed up with this soon.

Im gonna throw a bit of a wierd offer into the ring here, If I get the car, and she is a minter, I will do one of two things. Keep it, or sell for a small profit (well a large one if I can). Lets assume its a series 2 for thjs scenario.

Do you think It will sell easily. One owner, i think it has around 50k - 70k miles, its gonna have history, and lets assume its been well looked after, i think the owners have loadsa dosh, and its been garaged and pampered. (wifes car)

What can I expect on here, will there be some interest.
Don.

You\'d need to get it very cheap to turn a decent profit, there are a fair few for sale at the moment, a couple of gorgeous cars but they aren\'t selling in the present climate.
Projects are changing hands for peanuts, top cars which deservedly warrant top money are sticking.
If it\'s a minter, and you want good money for it, be prepared to sit on it for a good while until it sells or sell it cheaper but lose your profit.
If it\'s that good I\'d keep it.... but if you really want to trade it on, stick it on ebay with no reserve and let it find it\'s own level.

I doubt anyone on here will pay top money for it unless it\'s absolutely exceptional.

Putting together possible pieces on this car.
One came up end of Sept, 1 lady owenr with low miles and Rolls Royce servicing with an asking price of 1999 but no takers.  Perhaps this is the same car?

sounds about right, I thought so too but hadn\'t got any pictures of it.
I take it it didn\'t sell on the bay then.

No - ended on 1st Oct with no bids and wasn\'t re-listed.
Must admit though it did/does look nice and with full history could be a real gem.

Does anyone have a way of getting a link to the listing ?

Not until it showed up on ebay last month... I posted it on page 63 of this thread.
I remember we were all very complimentary about it when it was on ebay.

Well Chaps, I have to say you guys know your stuff.
I reckon this is the car then;

Colour; Correct
Lady Owner; Correct
Location; Correct
Service History Type; Correct

As for me thinking it was a Y or X, Reg, I saw it for just a few mins, and I reckon sub consciously I remembered there was an X in the reg, Perhaps ? who knows. Anyway I reckon this is the car, too many coincidences.

Well if i get it for the right dosh, could be a bargain then ? Anyone think so ?

And guys it will be another one on the radar for the club records, AND saved from Labours scrappage farce too.

Is this Tender Blue then ? and Series 3 ?

Don.

Ian65

It\'s very difficult to value it Don from photos... as we all know, ( sometimes to our cost), old cars always look better in a picture than in real life. It was up for 2 grand but didn\'t get a bid so where did that valuation come from?
It sounds very nice and genuine but what\'s it like underneath??
Hard to say...

yes tender blue and a very late series 3, Dave would be very interested in the vin number of this car ( the last 6 numbers) if you can get them.
