Hi all, two questions....

Trying to sort a gearbox for my 13B into FB swap and need a gearbox, so.....

1.What are the differences between an EGI and TII box-reason I ask is I\'ve found an egi box so wonder if it\'ll fit on my TII lump.

2.If not- does anyone have a TII gearbox I can swap for beer nuggets?

Ta!

Prof

I\'ve a TII gearbox - but the 5th gear synchro is going, it selects ok, just crunches a bit.  Apart from that, the box is good - just needs a clean ;)

5th gear syncro went on mine. You just need to rev match with the gear stick rather than the clutch. Usually going from 4th to 5th i\'d just double declutch, usually takes the right time to match it

How many monies would you like my friend?

Prof

I did have it on sale for £50 but no takers - so I\'m guessing it\'s worth a little less than that - £40 ono and it\'s yours :)

You gotta deal. I\'ve been offered a Exedy lightened flywheel and twin plate clutch will this fit on any age TII engine/gearbox combo?

Prof

I think they do, there was a good table on the Exedy site that shows what additional bits and bobs you need, but the number of splines is the same for TII and FD, so a lot of the clutch kits fit both.  I think the egi engine has a different spline count.  Some clutch kits need a different counterbalance weight, as the stock flywheel has it built in.

The gearbox doesn\'t have a clutch slave or fork by the way, as these weren\'t on the box I got either, but I do have a new rear oil seal you can have with the box if I can find it.

It does have the switch for reverse / 5th gear.  I\'ll get some pics up tomorrow when it\'s light :)

hi, just skimmed this thread..

but if you dont mind me hijacking it,, i have afew queries..
when in neutral, my prop shaft has alot of play, like quarter of a turn each way... (when wheels are on the ground) .. could this be a slack Diff? as its got alot of play in? its a standard LSD .. so how can i fix this? new one?

also, my ACV has been removed... and today, for the 1st time i driven my car when cold.... when i came on boost, it spluttered.. i have NGK BUR9\'s .. could this be why, as its a colder grade plug.. so runs crapper when cold?

Lol - they collect outside my garage waiting for the chance to invade  whenever it\'s windy ;)

You can have them with the spiders web on the front ;) , or I if your arachnophobic I\'ll give it a brush off at the least.  I can\'t remember if I drained it or not - but it\'s been sat not moving for the best part of 2 years.

I\'ve got the vent thing that goes on the side for venting clutch smoke- just needs 2 M6 bolts, and I think I found the rear oil seal for the gearbox too :)

Just let me know when you are coming - I\'m working this coming weekend, and will be dropping into Rotechniks on the way back from Work on Saturday, but get back around 4-4.30 pm on Sunday, otherwise I\'m in most nights after 5.30-6.00 pm
