Hi everyone, long time no see...

Due to money problems and moving house my rebuild project has been on hold. I\'m hoping to have a new workshop set up within the next couple of months so I can continue the project :)

Anyway, on with my question...

I\'ve recently been thinking about getting one of these: http://www.rotaryaviation.com/oil_injector_pump_adaptors.htm

I was wondering if anyone here used one.
If someone does could you please let me know a few things:

1) Is it difficult to install or is it relatively simple?
2) Is it something I could install easily after the engine has been rebuilt and fitted in the car?
3) Is there anywhere in the UK I can get it or will I have to import it from them?
4) Can I have a photo of how you\'ve installed the 2 stroke oil tank in the car? :)

Thanks in advance for any help and thanks for reading :)

I HAVE FITTED ONE AND NEVER LOOKED BACK.  car uses just under a litre of 2 stroke oil every 1000k miles and at least you can use a good semi-synthetic oil for your internals.  I would recommend getting a 1 litre oil tank, as you will have less of a worry about topping it up, more so if you are a hard driver as you will use more oil. Totally easy to fit but you can mod your existing pump (do a search in the rx7club.com) to do the same job if you want to but req\'s a bit of engineering.

Thanks for the info :)

I\'ll see if next months budget allows me to get one otherwise I\'ll have to wait... I\'m in no rush to get the car rebuilt, \'cause I have an RX8 for my daily rotary needs, so I\'m making sure I get the FC right 1st time.

Quotemore so if you are a hard driver as you will use more oil

Haha, that pretty much sums my driving up (unless I have a nervous passenger).

Does the tank have to be anything special? I mean is the oil tank highly pressurised or is it gravity fed to the pump?

Yeah, when I come to buy it I\'ll PM you to let you know and if you\'re still up for it we\'ll try and get a group buy going :)

tank is gravity fed so the higher up the better and should be made from a nice shiney alloy.....bling bling. I put mine in the far right hand corner next to the main relay. Just do a search on fleabay but important to get a tanl with a feed at the bottom and some sort of filler and breather system.

Oops 1k miles............smart A$S  lol

Gravity fed, Brilliant.

I have a 1.5 litre chrome plated tank (with clear side panel with levels marked on) somewhere around here that should do the trick ;)

I\'ve removed my power steering pump (and done related steering rack mods so I don\'t kill the rack) so it can go where that used to be, should be high enough :D

Thanks again :)

Prof

I\'m with Pete - never looked back after installing it.

The only possible issues you might have are:

1)  The standard oil drain pipe from the turbo won\'t fit anymore - you\'ll need to make a replacement - I used 10an lines and adaptors for my build and some 10an braided line for the drain hose.

2)  If you have the stock TII water pump, the adaptor moves the OMP out about 1" so it gets very close to the lower water hose and you may have fun getting the lower clamp on.

Best pic I can find:

The 2 stroke is in the catch can at the top left (sits between air induction pipe and shock tower), you can see the 4AN line coming down from the tank to the adaptor, slightly right of centre, and the closeness of the lower water hose ;)

i can give you a turbo oil drain hose that you can cut and mess with. I used braided hose to give me more flex utilising the original turbo and block unions and cut out the solid pipe. Profs way is the way to go though for a lot of reasons. The lower water hose clamp is tight with the adapter but it will go on. if you mount your tank at the front of the engine then make sure your feed pipe is well secured so that it does not get drawn into any of the belts when they are whizzing round.
