Hi guys i was trying to remove the engine i have disconnect every thing that i should need to, but when i remove the engine i don\'t know why the engine and the gear box can\'t seperate? i ve removed all the bolts on the that hold the engine and the tranmission together i can see a bit of the fly wheel,

any idea? or any special technic to remove it? thx

You need to release the throwout bearing collar from the ckutch. Or through the inspection hole unbolt the clutch from the flywheel, Turn the flywheel with a screwdriver to access the bolts through the cover.
V8 fd\'s rock :cool

any pic to show how it works? so i have to do something on the clutch first before i can take the engine out?? while the engine was lift up and then i can see the fly wheel in between the engine and the clutch cover, but then both of them just won\'t seperate!?

cush

go under the car and look up at the gear box. You will see a cover at the bottom of the gearbox with 2 10mm bolts. undo that then there are 6 12mm bolts that hold the clutch plate onto the fly wheel you have to undo all of them and pry the flywheel and clutch plate apart. The clutch stays in the gear box on rx7s as it is a pull type clutch if you need to email me your number an i will ring you to explain cushingxian@yahoo.com

great stuff thx i only just found out there is another way of removing the clutch by removeing the six bolt that hold the clutch the begining i though the only way to remove it is to do something through the service hole a or b and something to do with the collar ??? anyway thx for the help really appreciate it i will contact u(cush) if i  can\'t get those six bolt out thx

SiH

Don\'t do it the stupid labourious PITA \'one bolt at a time\' method - do it by releasing the throwout bearing.

Here\'s how you do it:
